    The argumentative turn of the 50s and the 60s which

    has to be taken as a part of the wider phenomenon of the

    weakening of Cartesian epistemologies in the 20th cen-

    tury has provided a flourishing of studies on commu-nicative methods in the various fields of experience for

    many years. We have seen a true renewal of logic even

    in its own meaning, thanks expecially to some schools of

    thinking in Europe and Canada.

    The rhetorical nature of legal argumentation has been

    for a number of years the main topic of CERMEG, which

    has dedicated to it all the previous editions of GTR where

    lawyers, judges, advocates and experts had the chance

    of discussing it.

    Our aim this year is to create a meeting point for compa-

    rison among some of the most remarkable accounts on

    argumentation and rhetoric, putting them in touch with

    Italian scholars of legal philosophy. We hope to offer the

    best conditions for bridging the gap between different the-

    oretical and practical viewpoints.
