Regulatory ComplianceOur products comply with the following standards:
Proven GRP FormulationEngineered Composites has worked closely with suppliers to develop a market-leading GRP formulation. By stipulating the exact materials used to form
each GRP component, we can offer an assurance of our products’ advanced technical performance.
ISO9001 SuppliersWe only source high quality GRP products from ISO9001 accredited
suppliers and all orders are manufactured to our exacting standards and specifications.
Environmental AdvantagesGRP profiles and rebar are seen as having a lower
through-life environmental impact than their steel equivalents. The production of GRP has a lower
energy requirement than steel and, due to its significantly lower weight, can be
transported at a lower cost. Fewer chemicals are required for structural
maintenance and, due to its ability to resist corrosion, it
offers long service life.

We stock a standard, heavy duty handrail system that offers incredible durability and is easy to fabricate and install.
Robust and sturdy, our standard handrails outperform metallic and timber alternatives due to GRP’s high strength-to-weight ratio and low installation and maintenance costs.
Our ergonomic GRP modular handrail system offers a cost effective and lasting alternative to conventional metallic materials.
With low installation and maintenance costs, outstanding corrosion and impact resistance, and high strength-to-weight ratios, GRP modular handrails significantly outperform steel, aluminium and timber equivalents.

DECK500, an interlocking anti-slip flooring system constructed from GRP, is used to create mezzanine floors, walkways and pedestrian bridge decks. Additionally, DECK500 is used in the water industry as effective odour control covers or to prevent water penetration in potable and waste water treatment plants.
DECK500 is a one-piece pultruded profile, 500mm over width, with a tongue and groove joint along the length of the plank to give a firm, sealable joint between the lengths of profile.

GRP|FRPREBARENGINEERED COMPOSITES
Fibre reinforced reinforcement bar is made from high strength glass fibre reinforced with vinyl ester resin. The core of the rebar has all the reinforcing fibre (70% by weight) along the length of the bar for maximum strength. A helical recess in the surface of the rebar is created in the production process which does not damage the core fibre and is sufficiently deep to give a key to enable the concrete to have a mechanical grip on the rebar.
The choice of vinyl ester resin for the rebar is important. Extensive research work has shown that polyester resin does not have the necessary long term resistance to the corrosive chemicals in the concrete while rebar made with vinyl ester resin gives a 50-year service life when used in accordance with the recognised published standards.

GRPVTRADITIONAL MATERIALSENGINEERED COMPOSITES
GRP
Excellent Corrosion Resistance. Can be designed to suit most chemical environments
Lightweight. (up to 80% lighter than steel & approx. 30% the weight of aluminium)
Extremely High Slip Resistance. Engineered Composites integral grit finish offers slip resistance for a walking surface even in wet or oily conditions
Non-Conductive. No earthing required
High Strength-to-Weight Ratio. Stronger than steel on a kg-for-kg basis
High Impact Resistance. Will not permanently deform under impact
Easily Field Fabricated. Can be easily field fabricated using simple carpenter tools with carbon or diamond tip blades. Lightweight for easier erection and installation.
Maintenance Free. GRP has a design life of 50 years
Long Term Cost Savings. Lower installation and maintenance costs in industrial application = very low lifecycle costs.
Good Ergonomic Properties. The innate elasticity of GRP provides comfort to workers as it has a slight 'give' underfoot.
Transparent to EMI/RFI transmissions.
Pigments added to Resin. The pigments provide colour throughout the part. No maintenance required. Bespoke colours available.
Steel
Low Corrosion Resistance. Subject to oxidation and corrosion. Requires painting or galvanizing.
Extremely Heavy. Requires heavy lifting gear to manoeuvre.
Little or No Slip Resistance. A major health & safety risk for companies
Conducts Electricity. Earthing required
High Strength. Heavy in weight to achieve its high strength properties
Medium to Low Impact Resistance. Can permanently deform under impact
Fabrication more Complex. Often requires welding and cutting torches. Heavier material requires special handling equipment to erect and install.
Constant Maintenance Required. Due to rust, damage, or re-painting. High cost implications.
Low Cost, High Maintenance. Lower initial material cost, however costly to maintain. High lifecycle costs.
No Ergonomic Properties. Steel does not provide comfort underfoot. Can lead to back ache for workers who are on-foot for long periods of time.
Can interfere with EMI/RFI transmissions.
Painted or Dyed for Colour. To maintain colour and corrosion resistance, repainting may be required.
Aluminium
Low Corrosion Resistance. Subject to galvanic corrosion. Requires anodizing or other coatings
Lightweight. (about 1/3 that of copper or steel)
Little or No Slip Resistance. A major health & safety risk for companies
Conducts Electricity. Earthing required
Low Strength.
Low Impact Resistance. Easily deforms under impact
Fabrication more Complex. Welding, brazing, soldering or mechanical joining required.
Constant Maintenance Required. Due to rust, damage, or re-painting. High costs implications.
Low Cost, High Maintenance. Lower initial material cost, however costly to maintain. High lifecycle costs.
No Ergonomic Properties. N/A
Can interfere with EMI/RFI transmissions.
Painted or Dyed for Colour. To maintain colour and corrosion resistance, repainting may be required.
Timber
Low Corrosion Resistance. Can warp, rot and decay from exposure to moisture, water and chemicals. Requires coating or preservatives.
Dependent on size.
Little or No Slip Resistance. A major health & Safety risk for companies
Non-Conductive. No earthing required
Dependant on Size. To achieve reasonable strength properties product sizes have to be extremely large
Medium to Low Impact Resistance. Can permanently deform under impact
Easily Fabricated. Fabricated using tools such as jigsaws and circular saws.
Constant Maintenance. Due to rot, decay, re-painting, or insect attacks. High cost implications.
Low Cost, High Maintenance. Lower initial material cost, however costly to maintain. High lifecycle costs.
Good Ergonomic Properties. Provides comfort underfoot
Transparent to EMI/RFI transmissions.
Primed and Painted for Colour. To maintain colour and corrosion resistance, repainting may be required
