testing out option. I will offer the testing this year, but be aware, it

may not be honored next year.

The following statement will be added to the fair book:

4-H & FFA exhibitors that have livestock eligible for the sale will

have the following two options:

1) Selling by the pound

2) Selling premium only

This decision MUST be made when the exhibitor designates his/her

sale animal(s). There will be NO EXCEPTIONS.

SELLING BY THE POUND: If the exhibitor (seller) is selling by the

pound, the ownership of the animal(s) will become that of the

buyer. The buyer will then have the option to retain possession of

the animal(s) or send the animal(s) to the packer.

SELLING “PREMIUM ONLY”: If you are selling “Premium Only”,

the exhibitor (seller) will retain possession of the animal(s) and the

buyer will be responsible to pay the premium only over the set

floor price of that particular species. Animals selling as “Premium

Only” will be clearly designated on the sale bill. Any livestock sell-

ing as “Premium Only” will be sold at the end of that particular

species’ sale.

ALL ANIMALS OFFERED FOR SALE ARE TERMINATED AS 4-H AND

FFA PROJECTS.

of modest size, educational, and initiated, developed and

carried out by rural youths participating in 4-H clubs, FFA or a

similar organization.

The project must be an organized and supervised program of

work. It must be planned and operated with the assistance of

the organizational advisor, produce sufficient income to repay

the loan, and provide the youth with practical business and

educational experience in agriculture-related skills.

Quilting

Workshops

I’ve scheduled dates for the quilting workshops . I will need

RSVP’s as soon as possible to prepare to the classes. I have

lots of experience to share with 4-H members and their

adult supervision. Each member (under the age of 15) will

need to have an adult accompany them with classes. This

will make it easier for everyone when it comes to the cutting

and construction of the quilts. I’ll break the process up into

five classes, giving each member time to complete their

“homework.”

January 17th: 1st class; general basics about fabric choic-

es, receive the pattern, fabric purchases, etc...

January 31st: 2nd class; receive cutting instructions, basic

block instruction

February 21st: 3rd class; more information on block con-

struction, learn about pressing, row construction

March 21st: 4th class; adding borders, deciding whether

to tie or quilt, how to prepare for the quilter, choosing a

backing fabric & batting

April 18th: last class; Show and Tell! Learn about binding

and how to care for your quilt

I’m planning on holding the classes at the extension office,

but we can move them to my “shop” if necessary to help get

things cut and pressed. Feel free to call me if you have any

questions. This will be a great project to show at the fair!

What a great experience to learn this art with someone spe-

cial!

Fee to attend will be $25.00 per 4-H member. No charge

for the adults

Come make a 2017 fair project with us!!

We have MANY signed up so far!

Thank you to those who

helped gather deer hides for our fundraiser!

We’re still taking them!

Our next regularly scheduled meeting will be

January 9,2017.

Clover Sprout

Update

January is here!

Jr. Clover Sprouts will be held on January 3rd

from 4:00 to 5:00 pm.

Sr. Clover Sprouts will be held on January 5

from 4:00 to 5:00 pm.

I’m again asking for each Sprout pay $5.00

for the year to help offset the cost of sup-

plies and snacks.

Remember that we will be following the Chariton School

schedule: If school is cancelled or released early for

weather conditions, Clover Sprouts will be cancelled for

that day.

This year, we’ll learn kitchen skills! We’ll

prepare simple meals and try new tastes! I’m

sure the Sprouts will learn lots and be excited

to share what they’ve learned!
