As I look back on the past year, I’m humbled by all we have accomplished on behalf of our patients and the communities we serve. As you will see throughout this report, Stoughton Hospital ended scal year 2019 creating excellence together.

Stoughton Hospital’s reputation for quality healthcare and personal service has led to: additional medical sta that want to practice at Stoughton Hospital; engaged employees who give back to the community;

and patients who report their experience is above state and national averages. Our hospital was recognized with numerous prestigious awards, and most recently, a generous gi of property was donated to us that will enable us to strengthen our community health and wellness initiatives.

To stay ahead of the fast-paced changes in healthcare, Stoughton Hospital began the year with strategic and master facility planning. With this information, we were able to plan and continue the progress to invest in up-to-date facilities and innovative technology, a necessity to maintain our mission and vision. We had two signi cant renovations/additions take

place this year — OrthoTeam Clinic in Madison and the Medical Imaging Department at the hospital. We are extremely proud to o er patients improved technology and additional space in both areas.

We’ve initiated new health screenings and programs including new technology for vein treatment, body composition analysis and heart disease screenings. We added an outpatient pediatric dental care program serving young children ages three and up in need of services that require general anesthesia. Our Rehabilitation and Sports Medicine Program continues to expand with new o erings in Certi ed Hand Therapy, Women’s Health and Parkinson’s programs. We will continue to support and make improvements to our Geriatric Psychiatry Program, recognizing the great need and service it provides. During the past year, this program provided care for patients from 14 di erent counties.

As the new year begins, I’m excited to see what we can achieve. Thank you for your support of Stoughton Hospital as we continue to pursue excellence together.

Gratefully,

Dan DeGrootPresident/CEO

Industry trends continue to show a decrease in inpatient admissions as a result of national health policies,

health insurance guidelines, growth of observation status for patients and

advancements in technology – making it safer for patients to receive much of their care on an outpatient basis. The

transition to population health management, developing initiatives and programs to

keep the community healthy is also playing a role in the shift from inpatient to outpatient.

Serving as goodwill ambassadors, the Partners of Stoughton Hospital support the hospital’s mission and strive to make a positive impact on patients and visitors.

The Partners raised over $19,000 this year and generously provided support to the hospital and community. With the money raised, they were able to purchase a treadmill for the Cardiac Rehabilitation Department, a slit lamp for the emergency room and provide a scholarship for a local high school student. The Partners also provided many hours of volunteer service and contributions to improve the health of our community through involvement with the Alzheimer’s Association, Stoughton Wellness Coalition, American Heart Association, American Cancer Society and many more initiatives. We are grateful for their dedication, collaboration and support.

THE PARTNERS FUNDRAISERS THIS YEAR INCLUDED:

Cookie Sales, Craft and Bake Sale, Gift Shop Contributions, Flower Sales, Love Light Celebration, Card Parties, Valentine Balloon Deliveries, May Day Baskets and more.

The Stoughton Hospital Foundation is continually grateful for the wonderful support we receive annually from our generous Circle of Friends.

Through extreme generosity from our employees, community members and local foundations, we were able to raise over $215,000. These dollars went back into our hospital towards the purchase of a mini c-arm for our growing orthopedics program, a calcium scoring package to detect signs of heart disease while there’s still time to stop it, e-prescribing, which adds an extra layer of security when prescribing narcotics, and the Bravo Re ux (pH) Test to assist in the diagnosis of gastroesophageal re ux disease (GERD).

Thank you to ALL who helped Stoughton Hospital continue to provide exceptional personalized service, close to home!

In good health,Stoughton Hospital Foundation

Why I GiveThis year, Katherine Christenson took advantage of the quali ed charitable distribution (QCD) to count toward satisfying her annual required minimal distribution and donated those funds

to the Stoughton Hospital Foundation.

Katherine chose Stoughton Hospital because of the hospital’s connection in a community where she spent more than 46 years. She worked for 32+ years with Stoughton Municipal Utilities and has always been an active volunteer in the community, whether volunteering at blood drives, food pantries, Stoughton Opera House or the

Stoughton Hospital Close to Home Café. We are grateful to Katherine for choosing Stoughton Hospital.
