FSSI – Producer Program

• The aim of FSSI is to implement CFIA or internationally recognized systems for food safety based upon HACCP principles.

• HACCP – Hazard Analysis of Critical Control Points• FSSI is a continuation and expansion of the old Food Safety

Initiative (FSI) Program from the Agricultural Policy Framework.• ARDCorp will administer program and is not a food safety expert.

FSSI-Producer Recognized Systems

National Programs include all National On Farm Food Safety (OFFS) programs that have been approved by CFIA for implementation.

International Programs that are HACCP recognized include Global Gap, Primus, and GFSI Suite.

In-House HACCP systems are not eligible.

Eligibility - Outreach Element • You are a grower association directly supporting BC farmers• Your association will deliver outreach for a commodity OFFS

program approved by CFIA, or any internationally recognized HACCP Program

If you are interested in more information about your specific commodity and what programs may be available, contact your local association representative.

growing/producing agricultural crops• Your farm is on farm-class land in BC• GST Number is required

Steps to Take for Implementation Element:

1. Work plan completed with summary and verified by your association.

2. Complete application form (available at www.ardcorp.ca).

3. Sign form and attach supporting documents. Send entire package to BC ARDCorp.

4. ARDCorp will notify of approval.5. Complete work plan.6. Audit/Certification.7. Submit evidence of completion for reimbursement.
