Your questions? • Over the summer period (August – Sept) we held events at

over 50 venues and there were opportunities for questions to be asked.

• Residents asked a range of questions, such as… – Are there any environment volunteering opportunities

that could be arranged? – What proposals does the council have to improve the

parking situation around local schools? – What can be done about people who cause nuisance,

shouting out of cars etc? • Many of these were answered on the night • All questions have been grouped into themes and answers

provided at stoke.gov.uk/mycitymysay • These are available to view on laptops at the back of

the room

Your service requests?

• At each event throughout the summer we provided an opportunity for service requests to be logged.

• We promised to provide responses within 2 weeks. • The position to date is as follows…

– 141 service requests received – Responses were dealt within an average of 6 days – Requests have ranged from alley gates to traffic

calming

• For any such requests in the future, please speak to your local ward councillor or email communciations@stoke.gov.uk

What are your aspirations? • We received questionnaires from 930 residents.

• 20% of respondents would like to be involved in the future; offering their time, skills and resources for the benefit of their local community.

• Most are positive about the city, but they could be better informed about major developments

• To outline what that might look like and consider your views

Making it happen - what is your role?

20% of people have told us that they are willing to contribute more – be it time, skills or resources. The role of public agencies (and other sectors) will have to fundamentally change due to the financial position and new expectations of residents in the modern world. We are committed to supporting residents to play a different role at home, at work and in their wider communities.

To achieve these ambitions tomorrow, we need to act today…

As public agencies, we will: - • Champion the Vision and be agents for change; • Work across geographical boundaries and in more

effective partnership arrangements; • Enable the Vision by being fit for purpose and leading

public sector reform; • Provide outstanding services for communities and our

most vulnerable residents in particular; • Maintain a focus on cost reduction and new

approaches to income generation; • Engage with all of our communities.
