1. Dimensioning for repeated features
Catia / SmarTeam Forum 2014/12/042
- Use «Detail» tool- No detail of detail !
Catia / SmarTeam Forum 2014/12/043
2. Coordinate tables for hole patterns
Position dimension
- Mostly permitted for water-jet/laser cutting => 3D model to be used by manufacturer- Don’t forget to use a general tolerancing- Be careful: the dimension table is not
associative with the 3D model
With “Hole Dimension table tool” (See FAQ here)
Traditional dimensioning
3. Dimensions on projected edges
Catia / SmarTeam Forum 2014/12/044
- Be as clear as possible => show projection lines!- Add them manually (see FAQ here)- 0.25mm, Dot-Dashed- Use «Detail» tool if needed

4. Multi-sheets
Catia / SmarTeam Forum 2014/12/045
- Same sticker on all the sheets (see FAQ here)
- Part list must be only on the main sheet
- Every sheet has a unique CDD number
- Different sheet sizes allowed but the biggest one should be for the main sheet
- Drawings storage: see FAQ here
This component is described by ‘’x’’ associated drawings : - 1/x : ABCDEFGH0001 (main sheet) - 2/x : ABCDEFGH0002 - … - y/x : ABCDEFGH0ZZZ
Sticker
5. Dimensions with centered tolerance
Catia / SmarTeam Forum 2014/12/046
- Easy to implement on Ø- Future => 3D models
extracted with nominal dimensions
- Useful on lengths: Improve understanding when stacking components in assembly

6. Holes positioning
Catia / SmarTeam Forum 2014/12/047
- Avoid using tacit symmetry- Dimension component based on references which reflect the functionality.- Use as often as possible theoretically exact dimensions linked to the references

7. Numbering of welds (for pressure equipment)
Catia / SmarTeam Forum 2014/12/048
Standard manufacturing drawing
If needed, create an additional drawing dedicated
to numbering of welds
Number each welding as:W010
(Welding) Incremente numberswrt 010, 020, 030….
- Create and store this new drawing as a multi-sheet
8. Engraving on a part or item
Catia / SmarTeam Forum 2014/12/049
No
Good
- Be clear what and where to engrave- For more info (asset ref), refer to another document (ex EDMS)- Don’t engrave on 3D models
9. ISO norms sticker
Catia / SmarTeam Forum 2014/12/0410
- You can nevertheless use most recent ISO GPS Norms!Þ Contact us to be sureÞ Mention clearly the Norms you need to refer to
- According to how many requests we’ll receive, we could consider a dedicated training on most recent GPS ISO Norms !
Example:(ISO 1101:2012)
Don’t forget it!
