• The term Stereogram describes several different methods for making the mind create a 3D image from 2D pictures.

• Different types include

- Side by side; which needs a steroeoscope tobe viewed.

- Cross eyed view without the need for glasses

- Anaglyphs (next slide)

Anaglyphs

• Anaglyph images are used to provide a stereoscopic 3d effect, when viewed with 2 colour. paper or plastic glasses. Images are made up of two layers, superimposed, that are slightly offset, contain two differently filtered coloured images, one for each eye. When viewed through the "colour coded" "anaglyph glasses" , they reveal an integrated stereoscopic image. The visual cortex of the brain fuses this into perception of a three dimensional scene or composition.
