Brainstorm on Ideas

The instructor will give you a thematic category from which your group will brainstorm on a more specific topic to research. Watch the following video to learn how to choose a topic.

Picking your topic IS research

Primary Source

Once your group has decided on a topic, you will search for related articles. For this first search, you will look in popular magazines only. Each member will find one or more magazine articles related to the group’s topic. Each member will then read and orally summarize them to the group. Once all summaries have been shared, the group will choose ONE of the articles to be the primary source for the group’s research project.

Scholarly Articles

After the group’s primary source has been chosen and approved by the instructor, each group member will continue researching for articles on the topic. The group needs to collect the links or MLA citations of these articles on Google Drive and give the instructor access. Each group member must find two additional articles, one of them scholarly, to add to the research.

Once all of the article critiques have been written, the group must create a Google Presentation (similar to PowerPoint). The group presentation should be organized in a logical manner with an introduction background information on the topic a summary of the research conclusions and deductions made

from the research

Each group must rehearse with the instructor prior to presenting to an audience.
