GROUND TO TABLE
COMMUNITY LUNCH
The Ground to Table Program promotes the mental and physical wellbeing of the Adelaide Hills Community. One of the new initiatives as part of the Ground to Table program are our Community lunches. We have had two lunches so far and they went off with a bang! What a great way to get together with new faces, enjoy a great meal and make some new friends! On the Menu for our first lunch: Lasagne, Spinach and Pumpkin Cannelloni and salad followed by seasonal fruit salad, ice-cream and coconut biscuits. This program is a combined effort from Hut volunteers and program staff with the aim to provide a vehicle that draws neighbours with different socio economic situations together. Community Lunches happen on the first Tuesday of the month, so please spread the word to all who you think may find this to their taste! (pardon the pun)….. Mark your diary! The next Community Lunch will be held on Tuesday 1 May 12 noon. Please call reception to RSVP.
Thank you to our wonderful volunteers Doris and Jill (pictured below), for making these days happen.

Sam will be working closely with Bernadette to develop new programs and engage members and groups within our community. Sam has a diverse background in community development and we are very lucky to have her working with us two days a week. The Board have been going through a major restructure over the past twelve months. Since the development of our strategy last year we have increased our knowledge in outcomes based reporting, using the Results based Accountability Framework. This framework is being used worldwide by many Government departments, agencies and communities to measure the benefits of their programs and services and to provide evidence to inform our continuous improvement practices. You will find snippets of interesting data throughout this newsletter that demonstrates the effectiveness of our programs, services and activities. As a brief overview of RBA there are three levels of questions we ask of our participants/clients/ volunteers and other stakeholders:
1. What did we do? This is all about the number of programs we offer and how many participants or clients attend, how many males or females, what age are they or their cultural background
2. How well did we do it? Questions like ‘How knowledgeable was the presenter’?, ‘Were there sufficient and appropriate resources available’?, ‘Was the venue accessible’?
3. Is anyone better off? This is the most important question and one that provides us with the evidence that we are working towards our vision and meeting the objectives of our strategic plan . Examples of these questions might include ‘Has your knowledge or skills improved as a result of attending this course’? or ‘Do you feel better connected to your community’?
You will also start to see some development of the platform with our Platform make-over. This is as a result of our successful Fund My Neighbourhood grant (applied for by Tony Herve). Unfortunately we have not been granted approval to grow vegetables on the platform due to this being a contaminated corridor, but we will improve this area for it to be more user friendly. We are in the process of establishing a Platform Development Committee so if you have an interest in garden design or ideas for this space please pop in and see me or email [email protected] . I would also like to welcome Gavin and the Matilda Bookshop staff who have come on board as a sponsor of our Author/Illustrator Series (school holiday program) and our new Homework Club. If you would like to register as a tutor or know of a young person who needs some extra assistance please contact [email protected].
Warm regards Deb
