Havarti has a buttery aroma and can be somewhat sharp in the stronger varieties, much like Swiss cheese. The taste is buttery, and from somewhat sweet to very sweet, and it is slightly acidic. It is typically aged about three months, though when the cheese is older, it becomes more salty and tastes like hazelnut. When left at room temperature, the cheese tends to soften quickly.

Brie is the best known French cheese and has a nickname "The Queen of Cheeses". Brie is a soft cheese named after the French region Brie, where it was originally created. Several hundred years ago, Brie was one of the tributes which had to be paid to the French kings. In order to enjoy the taste fully, Brie must be served at room temperature.

CARIBBEAN STYLE GRILLED STEAKSIngredients: 4 strip loin steaks

Marinade:

3 cloves garlic, finely minced

1 tablespoon ginger, finely minced

1/2 cup dark rum

1 teaspoon brown sugar

Juice of 1/2 fresh lime

1 tablespoon jerk seasoning (optional)

1 mango, peeled and cut into 1/4 – 1/2 inch slices

2 bananas, peeled and sliced lengthwise into 1/4 inch slices

1-2 tablespoons vegetable oil

Directions:Preheat grill to medium.

Combine garlic, ginger, rum, brown sugar, lime juice and jerk seasoning in a shallow baking dish. Add steaks, turning to coat evenly and let marinate 1-2 hours.

Toss fruit gently with the oil. Grill or sauté fruit until lightly browned and fragrant. Keep warm.

Drain steaks and grill until desired doneness – approximately 4 minutes per side for medium rare.

Arrange on plates accompanied by the grilled fruit.

If desired reserve marinade and bring to a boil in a small saucepan over medium heat. Cook until reduced and thickened. Spoon over steaks.

You can replace the dark rum with Pepsi or Coke and omit or reduce the sugar.
