The Welcoming Committee: What You Should Know
You’ve just gotten GT5, congratulations! With slow trepidation you begin to explore the features that Gran Turismo 5
has to offer. Rallying, NASCAR, Kart Racing, A-Spec, B-Spec, it can all get quite overwhelming at times, so here are a
few tips to get your game started off the right way.
1. Get accustomed to the controls, settings, and driving style. Pop into Arcade mode for a bit and drive a few cars
around some of the tracks. Getting used to each cars individual feel and force is very important early on.
2. Get a license! You need these to advance in your spec modes, so why not take care of this early!? Start right in and
take the driving tests, you win experience and free cars for each license you complete.
3. Dive into A-Spec or B-spec. Depending on whichever you like more, starting your career off will get the ball rolling. Be
sure to make educated choices when buying cars early on, and be sure to tune them to your advantage. Starting in
either spec will start the cash flowing.
4. If you have the benefit of the Playstation Network, please read on! If you do not have this benefit, I would suggest
skipping this tip, as it will most certainly aggravate you; causing you to curse the heavens above that you cannot receive
internet on your Playstation 3. PSN users have a special section called “Seasonal Events”; these events use the cars in
your garage for specific races that give out quite the rewards! If you are a low level, and have a car that qualifies for one
of these events, take advantage of it! Seasonal Events are a great way to get huge amounts of experience and cash for
you to use in your A and B-spec modes.
5. Most importantly, have fun! GT5 is as close to racing simulation as you can get, the cars handle and drive
individually, and it’s fun to feel the difference between a Mini Cooper, and a Ferrari Enzo. GT5 has its ups and downs,
but you bought this game, so have fun playing it!

Getting the Gold in Sebastian
Loeb’s Rally Challenge
By: Massidiot
To some rallying can be a bit of a challenge, trying to get that
racing line pretty darn close to perfect without going too far off course.
With the Sebastian Loeb Rally Challenge located in the Special Events
section, it can be difficult for some to accomplish all gold trophies in the
event without any assists. Even if you are not up in the high ranks of
racing, there is a way to nail these events easily. With the help of Test
Drive Unlimited Central member, Massidiot, you too can win these events
easily with a controller setup that he created.
Step 1
1. Go to options menu
2. Controller Settings (Controller 1 unless you are
using a wheel)
3. Change right analogue stick 3 to Right Analogue
Menu…
~ As an alternative I recommend using Triangle
as you can have down on Right Analogue as
Reverse
4. Change Up to (RA function) Select +/-
5. Change Down to (RA function) Select +/-
6. Change Right to: (RA Function) Adjust +/-
7. Change left to: (RA Function) Adjust +/-
Step 2
1. Enter Sebastian Loeb Rally Challenge
2. Access driving aid menu and use the following
settings:
a. Traction: Off
Skid: On
Active Steering: Off
ASM: Off
ABS: 1
Driving Line: On
3. Start Race
4. Press R3 (or whatever you set as Right Analogue
menu Select)
5. Adjust 4WD to 50/50

Getting the Gold in Sebastian Loeb’s Rally Challenge
The Second Alternative
By: Ken Meyer
There is also another way to get all gold in these events easily.
Not much has to be done other then selecting some helpful assists.
Just use the setup in Step 2, 2a. Follow the racing line as close as possible.
Also, when following the line, as it instructs you to slow down on the red solid lines;
I found it best if you are one gear above what the gear changer tells you on the long fast bends.
Just manage your speed at mid-range RPMs and hug the long apex,
especially at the Chamonix Snow rally course.
With tight turns, follow the gear changer as the skid
recovery will bog you down if not in the correct gear.
It may seem slow due to the skid recovery,
but trust me, you will get a faster time then
what the gold trophy requires.
With these helpful tips you can get these events done with little time. Enjoy and good luck.

BMW has spent nearly 100 years being an independent automobile company.
Starting from a humble bicycling company, it has grown into an automotive powerhouse
for Germany. BMW is currently found embroiled in a bitter war for the German car
market with a Tri-pointed AMG beast, and a four-ringed Quattro devil; and this posed a
problem in 2005 while Audi was climbing the ladder to compete with the two, Mercedes-
Benz and BMW were still competing viciously. BMW however decided to make a gutsy
move with one of their M-series cars; the M5. In 2005, BMW did something that no other
manufacturer had done. They decided to put a V10 into their new BMW M5 (E60), making
it the first production sedan with a V10 under the hood. BMW used a single-clutch system
in the M5, giving it 7-speeds, and a sporty feel, they also took a page out of the Formula
One books by putting in Launch Control. But enough history and boredom, I’m here to
drive the friggin’ thing.

Pros:
The M5 kicks the tail out in the corner, which provides great fun for power slides.
The brakes are responsive and
powerful, letting you dive into corners.
Although the suspension is very stiff,
it holds the cars weight well.
Cons:
The suspension, although sporty, is a
bit too stiff in the corners.
The interior and the Sat-Nav are quite
unattractive.
The exterior isn’t quite attractive either.

Specifications
Engine: 5.0L 487bhp 305.1 cubic inch V10 / 373 ft. – lb. Torque
Drivetrain: Front Engine – Rear Wheel Drive
Height: 1,469mm (57.8 inches)
Length: 4,855mm (191.1 inches)
Curb Weight: 1,855kg (4,090 lbs)
Final Verdict: This Bimmer can really rip it around the corners, it power slides quite
cleanly for a 4-door saloon. While driving this thing you don’t even really realize it’s a 4-
door saloon; it feels more like the coupe M3, with a V10 under the hood. Good car to race
in, or to go for a whip around the track. While racing around the Top Gear Test Track, the
M5 entered well into all corners, and would lovingly kick the back end out if you gave it
too much gas. Overall, a fantastic car to drive plain stock, and provides ton of excitement
and surprise from it being a 4-door saloon. 8.5/10

Review: The Ferrari 458 may not be a very pretty car to some, but it is absolutely
awesome to drive. I took it out to Trial Mountain and had a quick blast in it. I was genuinely impressed with the performance of it. The steering is so sharp and the throttle response is amazing. I had so much fun driving it especially when I turned the Manettino to CST Cut and it started to get tail happy and slide round the corners. I was very happy with the Brakes to. It stops so quickly it makes it so much better and easier to drive. The 458 Italia can lap the Top Gear Test Track in 1:19.1 which is slower than the Ferrari Enzo, but only by 0.1 seconds. It is also 0.8 seconds faster than the F430 Scuderia, 3.8 seconds faster than the F430 Coupe and is 4.1 seconds faster than the F430 Spider. All in all this is a marvellous car and will only set you back 283,000 Credits which is cheap for a Ferrari and a great price for such an great car.
