After listening to the breakfast show I found that he plays almost every type of music.

I took a survey in my 6th form class and found no one listened to it, I found it was due to time it was broadcasted. School starts at 8:15; most students won’t have time to listen in when it starts at 6:30. However, on a website I researched on it said the audience was 14-25.

ITEM 6: Are there any guest stars?

ITEM 7: Who is their target audience?

ITEM 8: Are they sponsored by anyone?

ITEM 9: What do other radio shows do people prefer?

ITEM 10: What do they talk about on the show?

The show does have guest stars on most shows. Most of them would have a target audience around the same age as the shows.

According to this website, the breakfast shows target audience is from people aged 15 to 24. (non-gender specific)

The BBC does not have sponsors on live events, due to the in depth reasons displayed on this website. http://www.bbc.co.uk/editorialguidelines/page/guidance-sponsorship-onair-detail

After discussing other radio shows people prefer in my focus group. Some of the shows mentioned were choice.fm and kiss. The reasons were these alternative shows had music more fitting to our age group, and also the show was on at more convenient times.

On the show they tend to talk about celebrity gossip/events and current affairs/popular culture.

TEM 16: What makes the show suitable for their target audience?

ITEM 17: How do they speak (formally or informally)?

‘It’s not the best radio show, it’s mediocre’ –Mr Woolard

Furthermore, the telegraph has rated the radio show 4/5 stars.

The breakfast show doesn’t have any co-hosts per say; however the production team tend to get involved; also he tends to have a guest star every episode.

The BBC tend to use sponsors or product placement due to some laws they have put into place.

They tend to play anywhere between 8-10 songs per hour.

The topics they talk about on the show make it suitable for the target audience, e.g. Celebrities and TV shows. Furthermore the prizes they give out and the way they talk is appealing to their audience. In addition the fact that anyone can go on the BBC website and listen in on demand can solve the problem of the show being on too early in the morning when half their target audience may be in education.

The show doesn’t get royalty’s from the show itself, the BBC will get paid from TV licences and a fraction of that money will go into the show.

On the show they have a mix of both formal and informal speech. It’s formal enough for it to represent the BBC, but on the other hand its informal enough to connect further with their demographic.
