DOC 1.0-A # Audio Responsive Text

The GET-Lab created characters that where specifi cally sensitive to sound. When this species picks up sound, it starts to move rapidly and even grows a few inches. It’s probably some sort of defense machanism, but this hasn’t been confi rmed yet.

DOC 2.1.5 # Character Deformation Study 1

What happens when you manipulate the DNA of a character by infl uence of different elements? This example shows the A in several stages of the experiment.

The fi rst attempt to breed a ligature. This specimen survived outside the controlled environment only for 2 days.

DOC 5.3 # Skin Altering

The common known type families have a smooth bold skin, this makes them easy on the eye and comfortable to read. GET-Lab started an experiment in wich they genetically altered the characters’ skin to grow hair. The example on the left shows different stages of hair-growth.Still legible but now with a furry, warm touch. GET-Lab also claims this species have a much longer endurance when used under harsh condition, such as outdoor use in cold area’s.

Hygiene is of most importance when conducting type experiments.

DOC 3.7.1 # Ligature Breeding

What happens if you put different characters into one contained environment? This experiment was set up in order to breed new ligatures. Unfortunately it turned out to be diffi cult to make the ligatures survive, so the experiment was canceled.

DOC 6.3.3 # The Chameleon Character 1-4

This font can dynamically adapt itself to function under different circumstances. GET-Lab altered the DNA of this type so it would mix with its surroundings. Like a chameleon it can alter its visual appearance.

DOC 7.0.1 # Audio Chaos Type

After the fi rst experiments with altering the DNA and breeding a audio-sensitive character, a complete typeset was enhanced. While being typed, each character responded on the environmental audiolevel.

Different families were created, each having a unique audio-pattern.On the left are some examples of type-families that where quite succesfully raised to adult specimens.

End Of Document # The Lab Results

The experiments on previous pages are not fi nished. GET-Lab will continue its research for Genetically Enhanced Type. GET-Lab believes that sharing knowledge is a way to enhance this research. All experiments can be downloaded on www.biepenlu.nl/getlab
