Coal Based Flexible Power Generation with NTPC

and GSECL

• GTG-RISE has completed the due diligence studies at the sites of NTPC and GSECL and have

submitted its recommendations on flexible operations

• Under the USAID GTG program, (US India System Operators Partnership),

Flexibility Bootcamps were organized at POSOCO (6-7th Mar 2018) & NTPC (8th Mar 2018)

• Knowledge dissemination workshop held at NTPC PMI on 27-28th August 2018 was attended by

CERC, CEA, POSOCO, NTPC plants and other state utilities

• Study Tour to U.S utilities under Utilities Exchange Program was conducted on 26th-30th Mar

2018 and 28th Jan-1st Feb 2019. Attended by executives from POSOCO, SLDCs, NTPC, GSECL,

etc.

• GTG-RISE is now assisting NTPC and GSECL in developing the regulatory and investment case

scenarios for flexible operations

• In the next two (2) years, GTG-RISE shall assist NTPC and GSECL in preparing fleet wide

strategies and support in implementation of identified interventions in select units

• The implementation support shall be assisted by a parallel monitoring and evaluation exercise to

ensure the overall objective of meeting the results framework under GTG-RISE
