#GreenTeam

INTRODUCTION

We are the recycling group of the school. We did not like our name so we came up with #GreenTeam. We are the smallest group at the school with only 4 members. We chose this group because we believe that recycling and waste management are very important factors in having a healthy and beautiful world , and because one of our school’s values is ‘Caring’.

OUR TEAM

FEEL

• We as a group noticed that there was a lot of waste and litter just laying around the campus • We felt that we needed to do something about it, We needed to take action to make the school

a healthier and better place to use

IMAGINE

• We got together as a group and brainstormed ideas.• We wanted to make the school a healthier place, • We made campaign posters to promote our group. • This is also when we came up with our motto: ¨You can’t wear Green if you can’t think Green¨

We wanted the whole school to look like this :

ENJOY

• We enjoyed the time making the posters together• We also designed our own bin labels • We had fun looking around the school for places to improve on

DO

• Brainstormed ideas on what we needed to do as a group• Decided that we wanted to implement the recycling system

- Decided that we wanted to implement four parts to our recycling: Plastic, Cans , Paper and Organic

● We realised that we needed more bins , so we then contacted companies for their catalogues and services

● Before we made a decision we partnered with two groups : the Tuckshop group and the Garden group

- Tuckshop group- They asked us to specially place bins in front of the tuckshop- Garden group - We asked them to give us their waste such as old leaves and

branches for the organic part of the our recycling

DO: CONTINUED

● Looked at the catalogues and found what we wanted- we wanted 8 bins, 2 sets with four each

● When we received the bins we placed them at designated areas

SHARE

• We put up our campaign posters around the campus

• We presented to the school on our progress and plans . We also presented on how to use the recycling system effectively

Thank you Great Team! You are going places!

REFLECT

• There were a few setbacks● The bins took a while to get to campus● The communication process between the companies took a while,

because they took a while to respond• We got feedback from from the learners at the school

- They told us that we need to consider getting more bins

• Learners at the school still did not know how to use the bins properly, so we presented again on how to use the bins

SUSTAIN

• As a group we have decided to stay together. We want to continue making improvements to what we have implemented and to come up with new ways to improve the school’s waste management

• We plan to get more bins in the future • We would like to make our own compost from the organic materials that we collect. We are

planning to make this happen in the near future• At the moment we are finalising a deal with a company that will take our recyclables and pay us

money for it • The money that we make will be used to purchase more bins or anything else that we need
