Native Grassland Photomonitoring: Round 2 The second round of students from Michigan State University continued the photo-monitoring at the native grassland project site that began in the spring. The grass mix is starting to show more and more so the original photo-monitoring sites have adjusted slightly to reflect this. This round of photo-monitoring will show a drastic change since the planting took place mid-summer.

Juvenile Court Group Bluebird Box Installation Two youths with the Juvenile Court services program installed 12 bluebird boxes on the east fence of the native grassland project. These boxes were constructed by a number of individual youths involved with the services program and were painted a variety of colors. The cool-season firebreak/walking trail should provide excellent habitat for a number of native birds, including bluebirds. The new boxes will be included in the bird inventory and maintenance standard that a student group from MSU will be preparing this fall.
