We Have High-Performance Facilities

Within our building, we focus on energy and water conservation, waste recycling, and using sustainable products and materials. High performance facilities provide a foundation for a successful green meetings program. For Example…

Sands Bethlehem was built on the 126-acre former Bethlehem Steel plant, the largest remediated brownfield site in the United States. During the construction of our property, 22,500 tons of steel were sent to local recyclers, a good portion of which was later returned to our site for reuse. Water efficient fixtures are used in all restrooms reducing the amount of water wasted. Food liquefier is used to convert food waste to waste water property-wide. Enthalpy wheels are used to recover cool or warm air from the building exhaust to conserve energy. Bioswales are utilized to limit the quantity and improve the quality of storm water runoff from the site. Our offices have occupancy sensors which turn off the lights when Team Members are not present. As an integrated resort, we have everything under one roof. The meeting space is only a 5-minute walk from the hotel and public transportation to help reduce your carbon footprint.

Donegan ElementaryWe have a special place in our hearts for the students of Donegan Elementary—a school that we have adopted over the years. Working with the Bethlehem Area School District, we’re very proud to support a program that teaches leadership skills to students by engaging them in activities that build a strong sense of community. Our Team Members also get involved in initiatives throughout the year, such as a homework club, a summer lunchbox program, and a Thanksgiving Dinner event.

Clean the WorldClean the World is a charitable organization that we partnered with as part of our waste management program. The organization collects, sanitizes, and distributes hotel soaps and bottled amenities to people in need locally and in more than 100 countries around the world. We divert approximately 600 pounds of waste from landfills each year through the program. That’s a win-win for the environment and our community.
