Hydroelectric Dam

Hydroelectric Dam

Advantages• Electricity can be created at a

constant rate• If there is no need for electricity,

gates can be closed and the water can be saved for a time when electricity is needed

• Made to last for years• Electricity that is produced does

not give off green house gases• Do not pollute the atmosphere

Disadvantages• Extremely expensive to build • Building large dams can cause

serious geological damage• People in the area must move out

because of the flooding • Can stop the water flow from the

river into other countries

Dual Flush Toilets• Handle solid and liquid wastes in two

different water amounts– 2 buttons for the different types of waste

• More water is used if it is solid waste and less if it is a liquid

• Can save a lot of water by being able to choose how much water goes down

• Normal toilets use the same amount of water for every flush
