•Innovative design that meets the objectives of the GBI.
INNOVATION (IN)
GBI IS CREATED TO?
• Define green buildings by establishing a common language and standard of
measurement;
• Promote integrated, whole-building design;
• Recognise and reward environmental leadership;
• Transform the built environment to reduce it’s environmental impact; and
• Ensure new buildings remain relevant in the future and existing buildings are
refurbished and upgraded properly to remain relevant. The developers will be able to plan more sustainable and
green projects. Allow us to undertake development in a more environmental –
friendly way To get better siting, design, construction, operation,
maintenance and removal
WHO CAN USE THE GBI?
All members of Project Teams, Building owners, Developers and other interested
parties (including Contractors, Government and Design & Build Contractors)
To validate environmental initiatives at the design phase of new construction
encouraged on all such projects to assess and improve their environmental attributes.
GBI RATING TOOL
•For this residential new construction, it includes linked houses, apartments, condominiums, townhouses, semi-detached and bungalow.
•It more emphasis on sustainable site planning and management, followed by energy efficiency.
•Will reduce the negatice impact to the environment
•And create better and safe place for the community as a whole.
DESIGN REFERENCE GUIDE
SUSTAINABLE SITE PLANNING AND MANAGEMENT
PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION ACCESS• Encourage the
selection of sites close to transport hubs
• to reduce the current and future heavy dependence on private transport, which is the greatest contributor to Green House Gas (GHG) emission.
COMMUNITY SERVICES AND CONNECTICTIVITY• Basic amenities
within 750m of the resindential units. (Grocery Store or Mini-market Religious Centre, Restaurant or Coffee Shop, Playground or Public Park)
• Other (Clinic, School, Police Station, Post Office or Atm)
OPEN SPACES, LANDSCAPING AND HEAT ISLAND EFFCT• Development
should have more landscaping reducing the well known effects of heat islands
SITE & CONSTRUCTION MANAGEMENT
CONSTRUCTION SYSTEM & SITE MANAGEMENT• reduce on-site
construction• Reduce material
wastage and construction wastage to landfill sites
• Reduce• the polluting effects
of construction and from workers during construction.
STORM WATER MANAGEMENT• Manage surface
water run off from developments.
• Reduce the pollution and storm water loading of the river systems from thedevelopment.
• Reduce flood risk. • Retain rainwater for
recycling and appropriate use.
AVOIDING ENVIROMENTALL Y SENSITIVE AREAS• Avoid
development of inappropriate sites and reduce the environmental impact from the location of a building on a site.
MATERIALS AND RESOURCES-REUSED AND RECYCLED MATERIALS
•to reduce waste, thereby reducing•impacts•Use salvaged, refurbished or used materials•To include reusability and the number of cycles on the usage (minimum 15 cycles) of temporary•materials; such as temporary formwork system, temporary framing or support system, etc.
Materials reuse and selection
Construction Waste
Management
WATER EFFICIENCY
Rainwater Harvesting
• to reduction in potable water consumption
Water Recycling
• Encourage water recycling that will lead to reduction in potable water consumption
