• INSIDE THE SERIES: The series with the Raiders is even at 22-22 entering Saturday after Wright State swept three games in 2011-12. The two regular season games a season ago were decided by a combined five points. The two teams both have a strong edge at home, with the Phoenix holding a 15-5 advantage in 20 all-time meetings in Green Bay.

• MATCHUP TO WATCH: The top two freshman point guards in the Horizon League will be on display on Saturday. Keifer Sykes, averaging 10.8 points per game in league play, will square off against WSU’s Reggie Arceneaux, who come in averaging 8.9 points per game this season.

• RAIDERS PLAYER TO WATCH: Julius Mays has emerged as a star not only for WSU but in the Horizon League after transferring from North Carolina State. The 6-foot-2 guard is averaging a league-best 18 points per game in conference action.

• CAN I SEE SOME ID: Sykes, who turned 18 on Dec. 30, has been on a tear since becoming able to legally vote. Believed to be the youngest player in the country, Sykes has scored in double figures in three-straight games as an 18-year old. In league play, Sykes is sixth in the conference in field goal percentage (55.4) and is tied for 19th in scoring (10.8 ppg).

• EARLY OFFENSE: In its last three games, Green Bay’s offense has been clicking early. The Phoenix has shot over 50 percent in the opening 20 minutes in each game and is shooting a combined 55.4 percent in those three halves.

• BLOCK PARTY: With two blocks against Detroit, Brown now has 111 blocked shots in his 48-game Green Bay career, moving into a tie for third place with Matt Hill (1995-99). He needs just two more blocks to move past Larry Hill (1988-92) for second place. Brown has a block in 42 of his 48 career games and is on pace to break the program’s career blocks record and his own sin-gle-season record of 67 this season. The career record of 132 is held by Terry Evans (2005-09).

• CRASH THE GLASS: The area that Brown may have improved the most from his freshman campaign is rebounding. Brown is second in the Horizon League in rebounding (7.9 per game) and is averaging nine boards per game in league play. He has tallied 10 or more five times this season after doing so just three times as a freshman.

• CLOSE CALLS: Green Bay is coming off four-straight frustrating losses by a combined 15 points. In the past two seasons, Green Bay has lost just three league games by 10 or more points. Only Cleveland State and Butler have fewer double-digit losses in that span.

KAM CAN • Cerroni got off to a slow start from long range this season, making just three of his first 12 threes. • In his last 10 games, Cerroni is 19-39 on three-pointers, including 7-of-11 in the last three contests.

FRESHMAN DUO • Armstead (19 points) and Sykes (17 points) combined for 36 points at Valparaiso on Dec. 31. • The Phoenix duo combined for more points than any two freshmen since Ryan Til-lema (23) and Mike Schactner (14) combined for 37 points at Cleveland State on Feb. 25, 2006.

LONG BALL BARRAGE • The 12 threes that Green Bay made against Valpo on Dec. 31 marked the first time that the Phoenix had made 10 or more threes under head coach Brian Wardle and the first time hitting 10 since Feb. 27, 2010. • It marked the most for the program since hitting 12 on Nov. 14, 2009 against Sam-ford. • Green Bay also set season highs in field goal percentage (59.4) and assists (20).

BALANCED ATTACK • Five players scored in double figures in the offensive outburst at Valparaiso. • Green Bay put five players in double fig-ures in a game for the first time under Wardle and the first time since March 2, 2010 in an 81-67 win over Youngstown State. • Ten different players have scored in dou-ble figures at least once this season.

YOUTH SERVED? • Sykes has started 15 of 16 games at point guard for the Phoenix and is averaging 8.3 points, 2.1 assists and 2.4 rebounds per game. • In his last three games, he is averaging a team-high 15.7 points on 61.1 percent shoot-ing and dishing out 4.8 assists per game. • For the second straight season, a true freshman is starting for the Phoenix. Brown started all 32 games in 2010-11. • The last freshman to start at point guard for the Phoenix was Rahmon Fletcher against Oakland on Nov. 9, 2007.

DOWN-LOW DUO • Brown and Cougill have formed one of the top post duos in the Horizon League. • Brown (13.9 ppg/7.9 rpg) and Cougill (8.1 ppg/7.1 rpg) rank among the team leaders in both points and rebounds. • On the glass, Brown ranks in a tie for first in the HL in offensive rebounds (3.3 per game) and Cougill ranks second in defensive rebounding (5.4 per game). • The duo is also a combined 75-for-95 from the free-throw line for 78.9 percent and has made 15 three-pointers.

TRIPLE THREATS • Green Bay has struggled at times as a team from long range this season (32.0%) but sports two of the top-three three-point shoot-ers in the league. • Senior Steve Baker has been consistent all season and is second in the league in three-point percentage (45.7%, 21-46). • Sophomore Kam Cerroni has overcome a slow start to the season and ranks third in the conference (43.1%, 22-51).

NEWEST BIG MAN • Junior transfer Brennan Cougill has made a major impact on the Phoenix this season. • His season is highlighted by a 19-point, 19-rebound effort in a win over Idaho on Dec. 22 when Brown was stuck in foul trouble. • Cougill’s effort earned him co-Horizon League Player of the Week on Dec. 27. • The junior had 12 points, five rebounds and a career-best five assists against Detroit.

BIG BOARDS • Cougill’s 19 rebound effort against Idaho was one of the best in program his-tory. • The total tied for the third-most all-time, just two behind the program record • He also tied the Resch Center record for rebounds in a game, matching Greg Bab-cok’s effort against Milwaukee in 2003.

LOST CAPTAIN • Brian Wardle recently announced that sophomore Daniel Turner is out for the sea-son with a torn ACL injury. • Turner suffered the injury at Valparaiso on Dec. 31, when he was in the midst of his best game of the season with 11 points. • The sophomore was averaging 4.6 points and 4.9 rebounds per game. • Turner has started 35 games in his two-year Phoenix career.

WHAT CAN BROWN DO FOR YOU? • 7-foot-1 sophomore Alec Brown was named to the Preseason All-Horizon League squad before the season and is making a strong case for postseason honors. • Brown ranks in the top-10 in the league in points (13.9, 8th), rebounds (7.9, 2nd), free-throw percentage (81.3, 4th), blocked shots (2.7, t2nd), offensive rebounds (3.3, t1st) and defensive rebounds (4.7, 5th). • In six Horizon League games this sea-son, Brown is averaging 15 points (4th), nine rebounds (2nd), 2.7 blocks (2nd) and 34.3 minutes (7th) per contest. • Brown has started each of the 48 games in his two-year Phoenix career. • In his 45th career game, Brown scored 13 points at Butler to reach 500 points for his career. • The center has 109 blocks and is just 24 blocks shy of breaking the school’s all-time blocks record. With four more blocks, he will move into second place. • He has recorded a block in 15 of 16 games in 2011-12 and 42 of his 48 career games. • With 17 points against Detroit, Brown notched double figures for the 30th time in his career. • On Dec. 31, Brown had 21 points and 11 rebounds at Valpo last Saturday, the third time he has had a 20-point, 10-rebound game and the seventh double-double of his career.

47.7 - Led by Brown and Williams (8.8), Green Bay returns 47.7 percent (32.1 points per game) of its scoring from a season ago. Graduated seniors Rahmon Fletcher (15.7) and Bryquis Perine (11.2) accounted for 40.0 percent of the scoring.

59.2 - Returning its entire starting frontline, the Phoenix gets 59.2 percent of its rebounding back from 2010-11.
