PLATTEVILLE PEDS TO INVADE C. S. T·. ·C., Greek Council Says Pledging To Start Sunday, October 18
Sunday, October 18, will mark the beg inn ing of 'Greek' rushing at Central State. For one week asp iring soro rity 'sisters' and fr ate rnity 'brothers' will be royally entertained by members of Greek societies. For this one week these aspirants will be treated with extrao rdinary kind ness, bu t on Tuesday, October 27, a drastic change wi ll be evident. The change may be explained by the fact that rushing will be over, and pledging will have begun in earnest.
- Pledging,"'"foui- weeks of servitude for all who come forth with an in vitation to 'pledge', will be follow ed by forma l initiation. On this memorable occasion 'p ledges' will become active members and may take their places as equals in their respect ive organizations.
Formal - ini t iation is a private ceremony, differing. in each organi zation. All four of the societies, however, ho ld welcome !>anquets immedi ate ly after their 'p ledges· become members. At the close of the banquets, 'G reeks' and their guests will meet at the Hote l Whiting for the t raditional Pan-Hellenic dance. This event, sched uled fo r November 2 1. will des ignate the end of the fiv~ week pledge period.
LSA A new p resident and secretary
will be elected Sund ay eveni ng at the Lutheran Student Association meeti11g. The meeting will be held at 8:15 o'c lock in ihe foirst English Lutheran Church Parl ors. Those attending are requested to bring their Bibles for fifteen mi nutes of Bible study.
Big Name Bands T_o Pl For Chi Delta Rho Dance DABBLERS EXPERIMENT WITH OILS AND PAINTS
Has e-veryone · heard about the " Dabblers" ) If not, here is an interesting bit of in formation. The " Dabblers" are a group of guys and ga ls who spend their spare time messing around wit h oils or sloshing around with wate r colors in the Art room. If one should see Alice Booth, Patty Markee, Ray Skatrude, or Bunny Gliszi nsk i with a smear of pa int in the wro ng place, patience is requested. Remember - it's for "A rt's" sake. Loretta Gotchy, Charlie Zoch and P.il s are also amo ng the lucky few who have artist ic ability and enjoy "p lay ing" around wi th pai nts.
However, in all · fairness to the above named, it must be ad mitted that they are really doi ng a very fine job.
If anyone has had past expe rience in drawi ng and enjoys wo rking wit h oils and water co lor, he is very cord iall y in vited to ta lk with Miss Ca rl sten. Although the group is not direct ly supervised, Miss Ca rlsten has been a ."peach" as usual in g iv ing time ly advice and letting the students use her equipment.
Chi Delta Rho Fraternity is going to sponsor a "Campus Caper" Saturday night in the T raining School Gymnasium. The fest ivities will start at 8 P.M. and will continue until midnight.
Harry James, Glenn Miller, Benny Goodman, Henry Busse and other celebrated orchestras will furni sh the music by transcription . T he And rew Sisters, Bing Crosby, ar:id the Ink Spots wi ll also be on hand to entertain the crowd with their nove lty numbers and · cur rent song hi ts.
Harry James and His Orchestra will open the evening of dancing from band stand number one. He will play his theme song and then sw ing into his famous selections. Afte r this the music of G lenn Mi ller will be hea_rd from bandstand nu mber two. G lenn is to featu re the four songs he made famous in the motion picture "Orchest ra Wives".
Jimmy Kul idas, chairman of the dance, promises all a good time. Assisting him in promot ing the affair is . Jerry Nuenefeldt. No admission - it' s for free 1

\Xihitewater continued to cast its spe ll over Central State. Saturday's ga me played at Hamilton Field proved the point as Whitewater wh ipped the Purple and G old to the tu ne of t 3 to 0. The Pointers seeking their · fir st victory over the downstate school since 1936 , found their opponents worthy ones. As in t he Milwaukee encounter, the Bergmen"s blocking was very sloppy and ragged and therefore the offense fa il ed to fun ction.
