Deserted beaches, sun kissed caves, breathtaking views! Greece has something for every traveler and that is what makes it one of the worlds most indulging destinations for sailing and cycling.

Touring with us you will embark on an extraordinary and unforgettable adventure in the southernmost part of Greece, simply known as Messinia in the Peloponnese. The diverse landscape includes pristine sandy beaches along sun drenched coastlines, crystal clear azul waters, high rocky mountains and rolling hills speckled with many Mediterranean vegetation such as lush olive trees and citrus groves. You will cycle on nice coastal roads passing through many historic remains and regions such as the old Venetians and Byzantine castles in Methoni, Koroni and Pylos. Lunching at quaint seaside fishing villages taking in authentic Greek cuisine all the while admiring the Greek culture and nature to its fullest.

The warm climate, the wonderful Mediterranean country side and its easy accessibility make Greece and its southern Peloponnese a great and still "secret" paradise for cyclists.

Itinerary Day to Day

Day 1: Arrival in Kalamata Airport (seasonal) or Athens Airport 5-10 km Transfer from Kalamata Airport (Athens on request) to 4 star hotel. Bike testing and adjustment as well as a little warm-up tour through the beautiful City of Kalamata. Kalamata is in the heart of the Messinian Bay, has a long beach just in front of the coastal road, a big local market, a unique nightlife, many water front beach bars and a Frankish castle in the center of the city and its old town.

Day 4: Methoni - Pylos - Gialova - Voidokilia beach Pylos 30 km Leaving Methoni we bike towards Pylos on the coastal road or as an alternative road, through the hills (for our more adventurous cyclists). Pylos is the third most important historical town and has a medieval castle like Koroni and Methoni. We will have a great view over the Navarino Bay, where Russian, French and English battle ships destroyed the Ottoman and Egyptian ships and set Greece free from occupation. We cycle from Pylos through Gialova where we have our lunch break to the Voidokilia-Beach, one of the most pictured and beautiful beaches of all of Greece.

Day 2: Kalamata - Petalidi - Ag. Andreas 49 km After a breakfast buffet at the hotel, we are on our way along the coastal road and its many beaches to the little fishing village of Ag. Andreas. We can take a lunch or picnic break anywhere, at the many tavernas, beaches, or in the wonderful quiet olive groves and orange plantations. Day 3: Ag. Andreas - Koroni - Finikounda Methoni 32 km We are biking from Ag. Andreas on the coastal road to Koroni. Koroni is a beautiful settlement with plenty of cafes and taverns in front of the fishing harbour. You will enjoy the breathtaking view of the medieval castle built by Franks and Venetians from the 13th to the 17th century. We will continue our bike tour through the brilliant hills on our way to Finikounda - a quaint fishing village with a long sandy beach, an ideal paradise for windsurfing and kitesurfing enthusiasts. This lovely village hosts some wonderful shopping for the ladies.

Day 5: Pylos-Filiatra 38 km This day is an easy bike trip along the coastal road through nearly endless kilometers of olive groves. A nice cruise and relaxing day of pure cycle enjoyment!

Day 6: Filiatra - Kyparissia - Kalo Nero 40 km We continue to bike to Kalo Nero, a small seaside village, which is surrounded by 25 km long beaches, which are the nesting grounds for the Carretta - Carretta, the endangered sea turtle of the Mediterranean Sea. They lay their 80 - 100 eggs in June or July and hatch in August. We can watch this with our local environmental groups and guides. Day 7: Departure After having breakfast in Kalo Nero it's time to hit the road to the Airport

Technical Characteristics:

Route Profile: Moderate. This tour is a fairly easy going trip along the coastline. We do have a slight mountain ascent to conquer but everyday cyclists will be able to do it. Distance: 200 km Travel Season: Daily departures from April 1 to July 15 and August 26 to October 31, 2017
