In 2010, the Local Employee Committees of the Lubbock and West Cen-tral Texas State Employee Charitable Campaigns (SECC) began looking for ways to make the campaign more efficient and cost-effective. It was decided to merge the campaign areas, bringing them under one local campaign manager. The Permian Basin campaign area, inactive since 2006, was also added to the merger to form the Greater West Texas SECC. This new campaign is managed by the Lubbock Area United Way and covers 47 counties.
