November 4, 2014 Board Meeting Location: Penrose Diner. Start: 8:30 am. Roll Call:

Board Reports Treasury Report: Jon Wohl Jon was not present for the meeting. See attached report.
1. We have an available balance of approximately $25,060.
2. Our Scholarship account currently stands at $2,003.
3. There were 32 in attendance at the September event and the profit was about $86.
Membership: Tara Pasca Tara was present for the meeting; please see attached report.
1. We currently have 270 members.
2. Tara cut Schneider Electric; still checking on E-Finity, PWI Engineering, Limbach
Company for renewal. Christine will follow up with Limbach in final effort to renew
them. Emails have been sent.
3. We have four new members this month.
4. Ken will check if we can customize the Bounce-back report to add more fields to filter
by membership status. Tabled

November 4, 2014 Board Meeting
1. STEM and Future Cities – Helen to take the lead on STEM and Future Cities activities and will get contact information from Christine on the STEM schools we’ve been supporting. We will give $500 again to Future Cities this year and Helen will contact them. We will ask Bob Iodice to judge for AEE once again this year at Future Cities.
2. We should get a link for the STEM and Future Cities to Caroline for the newsletter when we have more information on the activities.
3. Scholarships –/ We will keep our level at $2000. We pay the scholarships in May. 4. Suggestion to invite a student to future GPAEE meetings so we can review
internship/sponsorship opportunities. Helen to follow-up and reach out to Philadelphia area colleges and universities for inviting students to our meetings, particularly the February 19, 2015 meeting at Drexel.
5. Consider sponsoring students for chapters at schools. Then we should have at least one meeting per year at that school. These are networking opportunities; pair students with GPAEE members. We should put together guidelines of what a mentor should do, partnering with a student (tabled for further discussion).
Newsletter: Caroline McCallum Caroline was present for the meeting.
1. The November Newsletter went out on 11/5/14. 2. The Job board for November has four new additions to the newsletter. 3. Caroline and Mike will discuss putting together a newsletter checklist for the board
members. 4. Meeting sponsors are needed for subsequent meetings. 5. Hosts of meeting get meeting information to Caroline, Mike, and Veronica by the 25th of
the month prior. 6. Veronica sends out email notices for the meeting and she gets responses, develops
registration list, and forwards list to John Wohl. 7. Remind group to take pictures at the monthly events.
Website: Mike Walton Mike was not present for the meeting.
1. Mike to work with Ken Curry on setting up a Go to Meeting session to review Star Chapter and all board members will be invited to learn about this.
2. Mike is coordinating a LinkedIn Group page for advertising meeting events.

November 4, 2014 Board Meeting Veronica was present for the meeting.
1. November Meeting – Cogeneration, Thermal Storage and Trigen Plant tour
a. The event will be held November 20, 2014 at Veolia, 26th and Christian Streets,
Philadelphia, PA.
b. Meeting time is 11.30 AM.
c. Cost will be $30 for members, $35 for non-members, and $40 at the door.
d. Helen and Jim to set up topics and speakers and arrange for the tour.
e. Helen to arrange for the lunch and meeting room.
f. Veolia will sponsor the November event and pick up costs. Then, could the $30/$35 event fees be applied to educational initiatives? Board should vote on this at next Board meeting.
2. December Meeting – Holiday Party
a. The Holiday party will be held December 18, 2014, at 5:00 PM at Paddy Whacks,
150 South St., Philadelphia, PA. b. Cost will be $60 for members, $65 for non-members, and $70 at the door. c. We need sponsors, gift baskets, etc.
3. January Meeting – At PJM, Valley Forge, PA, January 22, 2015, 11:30 AM. Awards: Glen Murphy Glen was not present for the meeting.
1. Awards and awards schedule- a. GPAEE Awards and Chapter Recognition Awards –
We would like to solicit award nominations from each of the following: -Chapter Energy Engineer of the Year - for outstanding accomplishments in promoting the practices, principles and procedures of energy engineering and for superior service to the Association. (Nominee must be a P.E.) - Chapter Corporate Energy Management - for outstanding accomplishments in developing, organizing, managing and implementing their corporate energy management program and for superior serviced to the Association - Chapter Energy Professional Development - for outstanding accomplishments in training and development of energy engineers and managers and for superior service to the Association - Chapter Energy Manager of the Year - for outstanding accomplishments in promoting the practices, principles of energy management and development, and fro superior service to the Association. (This award is usually awarded to a Corporate Director of Energy or an Energy Manager performing duties for an industrial firm or building owner/manager.

If you have a nominee for consideration, please provide that person's name, contact information, background, and a description of what accomplishments or contributions that person has made to warrant award consideration to Glen by December 15, 2014.
How do we get more engaged in the local awards and send it out to National AEE for Recognition? We should consider an incentive to the nominator and the nominee. Vote on this at the next Board meeting.
b. National AEE Awards i. February 19 – Deadline for Award Nominations
2. Engineers Club in Philadelphia is looking for nominations for Engineer of the Year. Please give your suggestions for nominees to Christine.
Scholarships: Randy Haines/Helen Silvis Randy was absent for the meeting. Helen was present for the meeting.
1. Donations for 2014:
We will give $2000 again this year to AEE Foundation.
New Business & New Action Items (PLEASE TAKE A CAREFUL LOOK)
1. Some Action Items and topics of discussion were brought up that need to be addressed further. They are as follows:
a) Future – what is the proper “cushion” for our bank account? Let’s come up with a number. TABLED
b) Policies – Ken suggested that we document policies. Policies are decisions that the board has made. The reason to document policies is so the board can reference these to see what was decided in the past so not to waste time reinventing the wheel. Examples of Policy issues include: how to treat refunds for meetings; when to remove expired members from member roster, etc. TABLED
