The Deputy Chief Minis- ter was addressing a gather- ing at Khan Kachi Mir Bahri Rainawari, here in Old city Srinagar. Minister of State for Hous- ing & Urban Development Asiea Naqash was also present on the occasion. Dr Singh said the Union Minister for Housing & Urban developing has also stated that the twin capital cities would soon be taken up as smart cities. He said that it was due to the constant and persistent efforts of the state government that the centre has agreed for taking up these in the smart city project. The Deputy Chief Minister said that the government has already undertaken a holistic programme for development of the historic cities of Jammu and Srinagar and necessary instructions have already been passed to the executing agen- cies to ensure their speedy completion Responding to the demands of the people who got displaced and have been provided plots at Rakhi Aarath, the Deputy Chief Minister said that the maximum ceiling of three plots per family has been removed in a recently held meeting so that maximum number of plots according to family size can be given. He said necessary instruc- tions have also been given to the executing agencies to equip the colony coming up for the displaced Dal dwellers at Rakhi Aarath with all the facilities including schooling, hospitals etc... “The provi- sion of providing transporta- tion faculties to and forth Dal and its vicinities would also be explored so that their live- lihood activities do not get affected”, he added. Minister of State for Hous- ing & Urban Development, Asiea Naqash highlighted the initiatives undertaken by the government for ensuring holis- tic and sustained development of the Srinagar city. Chief Minister Mehbooba Muſti, accompanied by her brother Tassaduq Muſti, on Tuesday evening inaugurated the refurbished Zero Bridge and Food Court. There is an official version behind naming of Zero Bridge. As Amira Kadal ahead of which the Zero Bridge was constructed on river Jhelum was known as the First Bridge, the name Zero Bridge was given to this wooden bridge. The Government plans to promote the bridge as a heritage tourism spot in Srinagar. Farooq Shah for preserving heritage structures in Shaher-e-Khaas GK NEWS NETWORK Srinagar, May 25: Secretary Tourism, Farooq A Shah today said that Tour- ism department would promote all the heritage structures and buildings in Shaher-e-Khaas for heritage lovers. Shah was speaking at a flag off ceremony of the heritage walk at Badamwari at Rainawari as part of its three-day ‘Kashmir Fort Fes- tival’ under the theme of ‘Celebrat- ing Heritage’. “Kashmir especially Sri- nagar’s old city has huge potential to aract travelers in this segment,” Shah said. The Secretary Tourism who was flanked by Deputy Director Tourism Kashmir (Publicity) Peer- zada Zahoor flagged off the heri- tage walk at Badamwari in which scores of the students, morning joggers, senior citizens participat- ed. Shah along with other tourism officials also participated in the walk. During the walk the partici- pants wore Kashmiri turban and pheran aracting aention of the onlookers. “Heritage is a lucrative seg- ment of tourism which needs to be promoted,” Shah said. On the occasion, Shah urged participants to give heritage look to their houses. “We need to design our houses beautifully depicting our local heri- tage. Kashmir is a tourist place and our structures should gel with sur- rounding mountains, flowers, huge pine trees, chinars and gardens. Every house in Kashmir has snow capped mountains at its backdrop. Only heritage-like structures would suit here,” he said. On the occasion, the morn- ing joggers at Badamwari urged Secretary Tourism to keep the fort open in the morning hours. The tree-day festival culminated today evening with the certificate and award ceremony at Nigeen Club. Peerzada Zahoor Ahmad, who was the chief guest at the function distributed prizes and certificates among the participants of photo exhibition and painting competi- tion. During the ceremony, heritage photographs and paintings were also displayed and exhibited in the lawns of Nigeen Club. ‘Adulterated’ milk seized at Gojwara ALI IMRAN Srinagar, May 25: Police on Wednesday seized “adulterated” milk packets from Gojwara area in Shahre-e-Khaas. Police acted on a complaint by Mushtaq Ahmad Dariel, president Central Traders and Manufacturers Association (CTMA) at police sta- tion Nowhaa. “We had purchased a milk packet last night and spoed yel- lowish colour inside. Aſter spoing the substance in the milk packet, local shopkeepers refused to sell the milk brand,” said secretary of the association Bilal Ahmad Wani. SP north city Sajjad Khaliq Bhat said “we have received a complaint regarding milk adulteration from Central Traders and Manufactures Association, Gojwara. A police party from Nowhaa police station seized the milk and sent its sam- ples to the concerned department for testing. We are awaiting for the test results following which further action will be taken,” the SP said. 3 SMC officials booked Lok Adalat settles 610 cases amicably Srinagar, May 25: A Lok Adalat was organized today in the premises of District Court Com- plex Sannat Ghar Bemina during which 610 cases of different natures were seled amicably. The Lok Adalat was held under the chairmanship of Prin- cipal District and Sessions Judge Srinagar, Rashid Ali Dar. As many as 697 cases were taken up out of which 610 cases were settled amicably and an amount of Rs. 64,45,950 was realized as settlement amount. Meanwhile, a National Lok Adalat was held today at Old Secretariat Srinagar. During the Lok Adalat, as many as 72 cases were taken up, out of which 60 claims were seled amicably through reconciliation. A total amount of Rs. 60 lakh as com- pensation was awarded in favour of the complainants. Srinagar, May 25: Vigilance Organization Kashmir (VOK) has registered a case under Prevention of Corruption Act against three officials of Sri- nagar Municipal Corporation for facilitating illegal constric- tion at Mandir Bagh here. In a statement, VOK spokes- person said the case was regis- tered on the allegations that “one Mst. Saleema wife of Ghulam Nabi Malik of Manderbagh under the patronage of officers/ officials of SMC has raised an illegal construction of a com- mercial complex within the resi- dential area of Mandirbagh.” “The concerned officers/ officials of SMC namely Bilal Ahmad Baba son of Wali Muham- mad Baba R/o H. No. 6 BK Pora Ward Officer and Bashir Ahmad Bhat son of Ghulam Ahmad R/o Nawakadal then Building Inspector of Municipal Ward No. 5 and Muhammad Ashraf Warsi son of Faqeer Ghulam Ahmad R/o Baghi Sunder Payeen Chat- tabal, then Enforcement Officer of SMC of the said area in active knowledge and aid by way of abusing their official positions, in league with each other along with the beneficiary willfully allowed to raise said illegal con- struction in violation of the rules and norms,” it said. “Accordingly Case FIR No.13/2016 under section 5(1) (d) r/w 5(2) J&K P.C. Farooq Shah for preserving heritage structures in Shaher-e-Khaas

Srinagar, May 25: Secretary Tourism, Farooq A Shah today said that Tour-ism department would promote all the heritage structures and buildings in Shaher-e-Khaas for heritage lovers.

Shah was speaking at a flag off ceremony of the heritage walk at Badamwari at Rainawari as part of its three-day ‘Kashmir Fort Fes-tival’ under the theme of ‘Celebrat-ing Heritage’.

“Kashmir especially Sri-nagar’s old city has huge potential to attract travelers in this segment,” Shah said.

The Secretary Tourism who was flanked by Deputy Director Tourism Kashmir (Publicity) Peer-zada Zahoor flagged off the heri-tage walk at Badamwari in which scores of the students, morning joggers, senior citizens participat-ed. Shah along with other tourism officials also participated in the walk. During the walk the partici-pants wore Kashmiri turban and pheran attracting attention of the onlookers.

“Heritage is a lucrative seg-

ment of tourism which needs to be promoted,” Shah said.

On the occasion, Shah urged participants to give heritage look to their houses.

“We need to design our houses beautifully depicting our local heri-tage. Kashmir is a tourist place and our structures should gel with sur-rounding mountains, flowers, huge pine trees, chinars and gardens. Every house in Kashmir has snow capped mountains at its backdrop. Only heritage-like structures would suit here,” he said.

On the occasion, the morn-ing joggers at Badamwari urged Secretary Tourism to keep the fort open in the morning hours.

The tree-day festival culminated today evening with the certificate and award ceremony at Nigeen Club. Peerzada Zahoor Ahmad, who was the chief guest at the function distributed prizes and certificates among the participants of photo exhibition and painting competi-tion. During the ceremony, heritage photographs and paintings were also displayed and exhibited in the lawns of Nigeen Club.‘Adulterated’ milk

Srinagar, May 25: Police on Wednesday seized “adulterated” milk packets from Gojwara area in Shahre-e-Khaas.

Police acted on a complaint by Mushtaq Ahmad Dariel, president Central Traders and Manufacturers Association (CTMA) at police sta-tion Nowhatta.

“We had purchased a milk packet last night and spotted yel-lowish colour inside. After spotting the substance in the milk packet, local shopkeepers refused to sell the milk brand,” said secretary of the association Bilal Ahmad Wani.

SP north city Sajjad Khaliq Bhat said “we have received a complaint regarding milk adulteration from

Central Traders and Manufactures Association, Gojwara. A police party from Nowhatta police station seized the milk and sent its sam-ples to the concerned department for testing. We are awaiting for the test results following which further action will be taken,” the SP said.

3 SMC officials booked

Lok Adalat settles 610 cases amicablySrinagar, May 25: A Lok Adalat was organized today in the premises of District Court Com-plex Sannat Ghar Bemina during which 610 cases of different natures were settled amicably. The Lok Adalat was held under the chairmanship of Prin-cipal District and Sessions Judge Srinagar, Rashid Ali Dar. As many as 697 cases were taken up out of which 610 cases were settled amicably and an amount of Rs. 64,45,950 was realized as settlement amount. Meanwhile, a National Lok Adalat was held today at Old Secretariat Srinagar. During the Lok Adalat, as many as 72 cases were taken up, out of which 60 claims were settled amicably through reconciliation. A total amount of Rs. 60 lakh as com-pensation was awarded in favour of the complainants.

Srinagar, May 25: Vigilance Organization Kashmir (VOK) has registered a case under Prevention of Corruption Act against three officials of Sri-nagar Municipal Corporation for facilitating illegal constric-tion at Mandir Bagh here. In a statement, VOK spokes-person said the case was regis-tered on the allegations that “one Mst. Saleema wife of Ghulam Nabi Malik of Manderbagh under the patronage of officers/officials of SMC has raised an illegal construction of a com-mercial complex within the resi-dential area of Mandirbagh.” “The concerned officers/officials of SMC namely Bilal Ahmad Baba son of Wali Muham-mad Baba R/o H. Bhat son of Ghulam Ahmad R/o Nawakadal then Building Inspector of Municipal Ward No. 5 and Muhammad Ashraf Warsi son of Faqeer Ghulam Ahmad R/o Baghi Sunder Payeen Chat-tabal, then Enforcement Officer of SMC of the said area in active knowledge and aid by way of abusing their official positions, in league with each other along with the beneficiary willfully allowed to raise said illegal con-struction in violation of the rules and norms,” it said. “Accordingly Case FIR No.13/2016 under section 5(1)(d) r/w 5(2) J&K P.C. Act and sections 120-B RPC in Police Station Vigilance Organisation Kashmir was registered against officers/officials of SMC Sri-nagar,” it added.
