    INTRODUCTION

    The Greater Bombay Co-operative Bank Ltd, more popularly known as Greater Bank, had its

    humble beginnings over five decades ago on 10th December 1952, when a small group of

    philanthropists got together to set up the Bank. Though the founders were pursuing interests of

    their own, they decided to establish the bank with the sole motto of serving the community atlarge. With this end in view, they introduced attractive deposit and lending schemes relevant to

    the times. The Bank made a mark for itself with high quality of service, which primarily inducedseveral customers to the bank. Having achieved the status of a scheduled bank in 1996, The

    Greater Bombay Co-operative Bank has been making giant strides by attracting customers from

    the low, middle and upper income strata. This speaks volumes about the faith and the trustreposed in the Bank by the public.

    The Bank has achieved distinguished success in co-operative banking sector particularly during

    the last few years because of its distinct objectives, strategic plan of action, its continuousmonitoring and sharing of success with the concerned personnel. Good Corporate Governance

    and a committed management with the Board of Directors with keen interest in the well being ofthe Bank has been instrumental in The Greater Bombay Co-operative Bankreaching greater

    heights.

    The Bank has a deposit base of more than Rs.1000 Crores and a business mix of more than

    Rs.1600 Crores. The Banks operating income is more than Rs.100 crores and Non-interestincome is more than Rs.2 crores with Gross NPA less than 5.0%.

    ISO Certification

    The Bank has the distinction of being Indias first Co-operative Bank with ISO 9001:2000certification for all its branches. Banks independent departments such as the DEMAT Cell &Housing / Retail Loan Cell are also ISO 9001:2000 certified. This certification speaks volumes

    about the good practices of the Bank. We believe that being a part of the service industry,

    maintaining customer relationship is the prime objective. The customer fraternity of the Bank hasbeen growing year after year. Novel banking products introduced by the Bank such as

    GREATER BAL SULABH SAVING BANK DEPOSIT SCHEME

    Minor Operated Saving Bank Deposit Scheme:In order to cultivate saving habit amongst Minors Greater Bank has launched a suitable scheme

    in the form of Greater Bal Sulabh Saving Bank Deposit Scheme. Banking has not only reachedits presence in geographical areas such as Metros, UrbanSuburban & rural areas but also it hasinfluenced peoples having difference age groups. Minors share in the Indian GDP will be veryhigh in the coming years & hence it is very important to cultivate savings habit among them &Greater Banks scheme will be a useful step for the same.

    Other Terms & Conditions

    Minor who has completed 10 years of age & above is allowed to deposit / withdraw cashin / from his account independently.

    Cheque book facility is allowed only for cash withdrawal for minor himself and not forissue of cheque to third parties.

    The overall ceiling of cash deposit / withdrawal once in a day should not be more thanRs.5,000/- and balance in the account should not exceed Rs.1,00,000/- at any point oftime.

    Minor Operated Accounts can be converted to full-fledged (Majors) Saving BankAccount on minor attaining the age of 18 years.

    GREATER MADHUKOSH DEPOSIT SCHEME

    Greater Madhukosh Deposit Scheme - Daily deposit collection scheme.

    The idea of devising this scheme is to nurture the habit of savings among the small businessmen,traders & professional, etc. The accounts can be opened in individuals name or jointly withother individual.

    Type of Account:

    The deposit is in the nature of Daily Recurring Deposit.

    Minimum Amount of Daily Deposit

    Rs.50 and in multiples of Rs.50 on daily basis (In deserving cases Br. Manager may allowminimum deposit of Rs.10/- also for small depositors.)

    Duration of the scheme

    During of the deposit will be for a period of 12 months, which can be rolled over by a convertingdeposits received in first 12 months in Term Deposits of the Bank.

    Interest payable

    Interest will be paid @ 3.5 per annum with monthly compounding based on the balance as on the

    last day of the month.

    Loan / overdraft eligibility

    After 3 months from the date of opening the account, provided the depositor has regularly paid

    the deposit for 3 consecutive months and for business purposes. He / she should also have a valid

    license issued by the BMC and all other requisites for carrying on the business.

    Limit for loan / overdraft

    Loan / Overdraft will be available 4 times the accumulated balance in 3 months. If the

    accumulated balance is Rs.4,500/- the eligible loan would be Rs.4,500 X 4 = Rs.18,000/-. Theasset purchased out of this loan should be hypothecated to the bank or 75% of the deposit

    collected, subject to minimum amount of loan exceeding Rs.10,000/- and above.

    Rate of Interest

    Applicable rate of interest on Loan / Overdraft will be 9% p.a. with monthly rest.

    Option 1: the loan can be liquidated at the expiry of deposit account from accumulated balance

    with the interest.

    Option 2: the borrower can repay this loan separately as per his convenience during the period ofdeposit scheme, subject to the banks lien and set off on the deposits.

    Conditions for pre-mature withdrawal

    Only after 3 months without interest subject to:

    (a) Recovery of commission payable to the agent.

    (b) Recovery of loan availed, if any with interest.

    SIMPLE SAVING SCHEME(SSS)

    Simple Saving Scheme (SSS)(Account can be opened with a minimum balance of Rs. 10/-only.)

    The scheme is applicable strictly to individuals, i.e the A/c can be opened by individuals, literate/ illiterate, physically handicapped. Senior citizens, including minors in the age group of 10-18

    years.

    Account can be opened, with a minimum initial deposits of Rs.10/- and the account will remain

    active, even if the balance goes below Rs.10/-.

    No personalised chequebook, ATM card facility collection of utility bills (Bill centre facility)shall be allowed. Withdrawals will be allowed only against production of passbook and

    withdrawal slip to the account holder only.

    Depositing of local cheques / P.O./ DD for credit will be allowed Maximum credit in the account not to exceed Rs.50,000/- and total turnover in a year not

    to exceed Rs.1,00,000/- (Rupees one lac only). In the event, the above limitations arecrossed, branch should close the a/c and transfer the a/c to normal SB portfolio, after

    complying with the KYC norms

    Rate of interest shall be applicable to SB a/c (i.e. @ 3.50% p.a.) Only three withdrawal transactions shall be allowed in a month No transaction charges of the amounts transferred within the branch. All other

    remittances to outside agencies shall be allowed at normal applicable service charges

    No service charges shall be levied, including for balances below the minimum balancesand zero balance

    Note on PAN CardPAN Card - Permanent Account Number (PAN) is a ten digit alphanumeric number, issued inthe form of a laminated card, by the Income Tax Department.

    It is now mandatory to possess a PAN for filing of Income Tax Returns by Individuals, HUF,

    NRI, Corporate etc. It is also compulsory to quote PAN in all documents pertaining to financialtransactions notified from time-to-time by the Central Board of Direct Taxes and for opening of

    Demat Account as directed by SEBI. PAN must be mentioned while making cash transaction

    above a threshold limit.

    In order to improve PAN related services, the Income Tax department has authorized UTI

    Investor Services Ltd. (UTIISL) and National Securities Depository Limited (NSDL) to set up

    and manage IT PAN Service Centers to dispense PAN card in all cities & towns where there isan Income Tax office.

    Considering the growing regulatory requirement and KYC norms for all financial transactionthere are many such individuals who would require to posses PAN. Customers who already have

    old cards can exchange their cards for a new Tamper Proof Card.
