Shopping Buddy Program

In the final quarter of 2020, 100 low-income families benefited from the Shopping Buddy Program, with

groceries aid worth RM200 being provided to each family. In Nov 20, the program was supported via a

crowdfunding campaign that had raised RM13,699.20 on the NGOHub platform. From Dec 20, we

partnered with Yayasan Hasanah via the Hasanah Special Grant (HSG) 2020, where we will be providing

customised groceries aid to 80 families from PPR Pantai Ria for a period of 3 months. Our goal is to help

these families weather their difficulties during the RMCO period, while providing them with a more

balanced diet supply. Special thanks to all our fundraisers who assisted us in our crowdfunding effort,

and to Yayasan Hasanah for partnering us to amplify the impact of our program.

TESTIMONIES

KRISHNAVENI (volunteer) “Being a student growing up in a charity home, many things are often taken care of by my guardians. Today, through volunteering, I learnt to be independent by shopping for necessities for the B40 families. I'm happy to be able to help and care for a family today.”

SIMON (volunteer) “I feel very happy to be given the opportunity to participate and to volunteer for this program. Growing up in an orphanage, I often receive help from other. However, for this time, I am able to be the one who gives help back to those in need. It is an indescribable feeling, a feeling that is very special to me.”

PRUKasih Program

In the final quarter of 2020, GVCA focused more towards servicing the community through claims

processing, where 20 claims for illnesses, accidents, and deaths, worth RM40,564 were filed, approved,

and disbursed to the affected members. 7 residents were also enrolled in the program during this period.

PRUKASIH HIGHLIGHTS

ZAITON (ACCIDENT CLAIM) Mdm Zaiton works as a babysitter. She met with an accident and injured her ankle. The healing process of her ankle takes time, while her income as a babysitter was also affected due to the CMCO. With the claim amount received, she is able to use it to purchase her household necessities, which eases her burden.

ZAMRI (ILLNESS CLAIM) Mr Zamri is a factory worker. He was hospitalised for a heart attack. As a result, had to rest for 2 months to recuperate. The claim amount received greatly helped him to alleviate his burden on his household expenses, enabling him to concentrate on recuperating with peace of mind.

JAMAL OMAR (DEATH CLAIM) Ms Rozita is the beneficiary for her late father, Mr Jamal Omar, who passed away due to cancer. The claim amount received was used to buy daily necessities for her family of 5. Although she is still in a state of grief, she tried to be strong for her aging mother, who had always been by her father’s side throughout his illness.
