Shamirpet,isaround20kmsnorthofsecunderabad.Shamirpetboulders,inpar-ticular,offersrockyterrain.Theplaceisagoodoneforbeginnerstocarryout

boulderclimbing.

GHAChadorganizedameetupforshamirpetlakeon07-Feb-2010.Thisdayhadaverygoodweather,aroundtheplace,whichaddedtothefunoftrek.Thetreksawlotofpeoplegatherandwearegladtheylikedit!

Valentinedayspecial:DurgamCheruvuTheraidurgambusstopwitnessedagatheringof32people,intheearlyhoursofvalentine'sday.Anarmyofredhadassembledtoclimbthebouldersaroundthe

durgamcheruvulake.

Durgamcheruvuisan'easy'trek.Theplaceoffersboulders.Therearefewthatarehardandeffortspentinclimbingontopit,istrulyappreciable.

Aquickroundofintroductionwascarriedandpeoplesetoffforahike.Fewlikeme,wentaheadwithboulderclimbingwhilefewothersgotinvolvedincapturingimagesoftheplace.Morepeoplejoinedinandthenumberincreasedfrom32to36.Ashorttrek,thereafter,leadtothelake.Aquickphotoshotforthephotoal-

bumwasdone.

Themorningwaspleasantasthetemperaturearoundtheareawasmoderate.Peo-plewentonshorttreks,performedrockclimbingwhilechattingalong.

Weassembledatapoint(chosenbytheorganizer)amidstthelakeforthecakecut.Thecakehad aheart drawnfromcream andI wonder how did peoplefeel likecuttingtheheartoutonvalentine'sday!!!kidding.sureyougotthat. thecakewasgood.Aquickwalkbackaftereatingthecakeandwecaughtourroadsbackhome.

I appreciatethe efforts of the personwhoarranged the cake and the person(s)whocarrieditallthewayfromthestartofthetrektothechosenpoint!

Moulalidargah,oneof11heritagesitesidentifiedbyHyderabadUrbanDevelop-mentAuthority(HUDA),issituated25kmsfromNampally.Thehillsofferamildtrekexperience,whichisgoodforbeginnersandmildtrekkers.ThisisonetheregularplacesforwhichGHACorganizesthemeetup.Onesuchmeetupwasheldon21-Feb-2010.OneoftheattendeesMohammedAzmathhadthistosayIamnewtothisgroupandthetrektoMoulaliHillswasagreatexperience.Wewere5innumber.UndertheableguidanceofPadmaja,wefirsttookthestepshalfwayandthenwalkedtheslopes.Wewaitedforthemorningsuntocome-upandlaterwentupanddownthehillfromdifferentdirections.AnotsoeasyslopewasconqueredbyChaitanyaandAnand.OveralltheTrektoMoulaliHillswasfunandamemorableone.Photo Album:

NightCampingatAnanthgiriHills

TwentyOnepeople,headedtoananthgirihillsforanightcamp.Whatfollowedwasagoodtimeandagoodtimewhichwasdominatedbysingers!

Ananthgirihillsisaround80kmsfromhyderabadandoffersagoodplaceforcamping.Wefoundonesuchplaceforsettingupourcamp.Fromhere,agoodviewofvikarabadcouldbehad.Thetwilightbroughtoutsomegoodviewsoftheplacebutwewerelate,asusualandwehadtogettowork!

6carswith21peoplereachedtheplacearound6intheevening.Peoplegotoutofthecarandgotdowntowork,realizingthatthefadingsunwouldofferlightonlyforsome-time.So,thegirlstookcareofthecookingdepartmentwhiletheguystookcareofset-tingupthetentsandcollectingfirewood.Fewknewhowtosetatentandiwasnotoneofthem,sad.

Fewgotdowntocut/peelthevegetableswhileothersweresortingoutingredients.Fewguysvolunteeredtoholdthetorchandthrowlight!Withallthehardwork,finallytherewasrice,dalandacurry,waitingtobeserved.Therewaslightshower,accompaniedbyagushingwind,whenwecommencedourfood.Fewofushadtorushtosavethetents,whichwerenotgrounded.Thewaterdropswereforalittletime.Postdinner,itwassingingalltheway.Wellintothenight,thesingingcarriedonandatsomepointitwasdecidedthatthegroupwillgooutforanightwalk.Agoodwalkandthesingingbegan....again!Wefoundaplacedownhillwhichofferedabeautifulviewofthelitcityfarawaywiththestarrysky.Themoonwithitsbeautifulcrescentwasawatch.Wesatdownandpeoplesangfewgoodnumbers.Oneofthemsuggestedcompletesilenceandenjoytheview.Asense,whichishardtodescribe,setin.Thesingingwenton!andwhenwereachedback,itwastimetoplaycards.Agoodtimewithcards.Ilearntsome-

thing,foriknewnothingaboutplayingcards.

Themaha-ideaofone/twoofthememberswastoapplytoothpasteonthefaceofsleepinghumans.I'msuretheyhadalotoffundoingsoandintheprocessbeing'called'byapersononwhosefacetheytriedtoapply.Thebestpartwastheexplanationofwhat'actually'peoplethoughtthepastewas!:-D

Howmanytimesdoyougettohavefunwithagroupofpeopleyouhavejustmet?Answer:Notalways.Butdandeli,sure,wasonesuchexpeditionthathadafunloving

groupandthedollygangwastheresultofthefriendshipandfun.ThetravelbeganfromM.G.B.Sandafteragood12hrridewewereinDharwad.Fromdharwad,itwasa2hrjourneytodandeli.Thegameofdumbcharadesdomi-natedthissegmentofjourneyi.efromdharwadtodandeli.EveryonewasinvolvedandImsureeveryonewashappybeingpartofit.

Stanleyfarmwasourplacetostay.Wepitchedinourtentsforourstay.Thefirstdayinvolvedrivercrossingandriverrafting.Theriverraftingwasthehighlightoftheentiretravel.Theclearwatersofkaliriverwassimplywatchable!Personally,swim-minginthatwaterwasthebestpart.IwasLOST,ifyouknowwhatImean.Therivergave1goodrapidandtherestwereofthemoderatenature.Theraftinginstruc-

torsweregoodandfriendly.Thecampfirewaspreparedfortheeveningandpeoplegatheredaroundforanintro-duction.Aquickintroductionanditwasdinnertime.

Theseconddaywasscheduledforrappelling.Weleftearlymorningtotherappellingpoint,whichwasanhoursdrivefromthefarm.Since,theweatherwassunny,itwasdecidedtofinishofftheactivityassoonaspossible.Therappellingwasgood.Fewweregoodatitandfewtriedtheirbestandcompletedit.Imsuretheyloveditmorethantheguywhodiditperfectly!

Theafternoonplaninvolvedexploringsyntherirocks.Theplacewasbeautifulandwiththewaterarounditaddedtothepleasantness.Fewpeoplechosetostaywhile

therestdecidedtogoaheadandexploreandtiwasworthit!Iwishwehadmoretimesothatmoretimecouldbespentthere.:-(

ThethirdandfinaldayinvolvedKavalacaves.Wehadtoclimbdown500oddstepstogettothecavesandviewtheplaceofferedwasamindpleasingone.

Afantastic3daytravelwhich,personally,climbsthechartofbesttreksIvehadsofar.Wait,didItellyouweplayedholionthelastdayandthenjumpedintotheriverforagoodcoolingtime!

GHAChadorganizedaneveningtrektobhongirforton28-Feb-2010.Thegroupdidrockclimbing,playedholi,hadsongssung,hadfoodatadhabaontheway.

Oneoftheattendees,Nataraj,saysItwassomuchfun......aweekendcantbemuchbetterthanthis.......Trekking, Rockclimbing(Spl.thankstodeepamsir),Holicelebrationsandthefoodatdhabawithlotsofmusic(thankstoallthesing-

ers).Hadsomuchfunandit'sawonderfulexperienceforme.ThankstoDeepamMorparia,jayantaMondal,PadmajaPullabhatla,andPrashantPaifororganizingsuchawonderfultrip.alsothankstotheenthusiasticgroupformakingthetrekmemorable.Lookingforwardformoretrekslikethis.

king/adventurelist.Onehastostayinthepadmavatitemplewhichcanhouse50people.
