Gray Letter of Reference 2015

October 29, 2015 Dear Sir or Madame, I am very pleased to write a letter of reference for Madeline Gray. I have known Ms. Gray for over two years. I was her Genetics Professor last year. I am currently her Cell Biology Professor, and I am her work study supervisor. Ms. Gray is a mature, responsible, intelligent, self-motivated and personable young woman who would be an outstanding selection for research position. Ms. Gray received the top grade in my Genetics course, one of the most rigorous and challenging courses at Reinhardt. She was always well prepared for class and lab. In both class and lab she displayed excellent problem-solving, writing and communication skills. She had no trouble volunteering during class to answer genetics problems on the board. The laboratory included collaborative, student-driven, peer-led research and case study work. Ms. Gray’s strengths were best displayed in her ability to collaborate well within her laboratory group while demonstrating a leadership role in motivating students and, setting up and completing experiments within her group. She also excelled in writing and in presenting. She was able to clearly convey her ideas in writing laboratory reports and research papers. On a more personal note, I have had ample opportunity to get to know Ms. Gray. We worked together over the summer on a research project and she is currently one of the departmental work-study students that I supervise. As a summer research assistant, she performed exceptionally. She was always punctual and hard working. Ms Gray was eager to complete the task at hand and paid extra attention to detail. She displayed great reasoning and organization skills. Currently, she is responsible in organizing, setting up and taking down the departmental teaching labs. She is a natural in this role and typically requires very little direction in completing the tasks necessary. In this role, she once again has displayed her problem solving and critical thinking skills. Overall, Ms. Gray is a superb assistant and I know would excel at any position requiring organization, detail, and persistence. In closing, Ms. Gray is an incredibly bright young woman who is disciplined and compassionate. She is a joy to work with and to teach. I highly recommend Ms. Gray and I hope that you give her the opportunity to gain valuable research experience. If you need me to elaborate further, please feel free to contact me via email at [email protected] or at 770-720- 9220.
