Rabindranath TagoreRabindranath Tagore was a great poet, patriot,philosopher, humanist, and painter. He was bornin Jorasanka, Calcutta on 7th of May in 1861 inhis ancestral home to the MaharsiDebendranath Tagore and Sarada Devi. He wasthe 14th child of his parents. However, he wasdifferent from others. He got his propereducation and knowledge about varioussubjects at home by the private teachers. Hewas very young when started writing poems,some of them were published in the periodicals.
He went to England for his higher education butwas not satisfied by the traditional system ofeducation there. He returned to India andopened his own school named Santiniketan inBolpur, Birbhum, Bengal. This school laterbecame a college and then a university (Visva-Bharati). He was honored with the Nobel Prizefor ‘Gitanjali’ in 1913. He was also awarded withKnighthood by the British Crown. However, hereturned it as a mark of protest against themassacre in Jallianwalabagh.

ISAM Kindergarten Department KG –I &KG -II celebratedPYJAMA DAY on Thursday 2nd May 2019.
Pyjama Day is a popular classroom fun activity whichhelps to bring an awareness in children about theimportance of good sleep, health and hygiene. Thisactivity is conducted in the classrooms and schoolpremises to educate and promote good sleep routine andpersonal hygiene which is very important in earlychildhood.
Children reported to school in their Pyjama suit. Theywere instructed to bring a change over dress, toothbrush ,paste ,small comb, and a face towel. They were asked toenact as if sleeping on the long spread mat and teachersplayed a the rhyme “ Are you sleeping” .
KINDERGARTEN DEPARTMENT
To instruct on health and hygiene, children weretaken to the green grass area and our schoolstaff nurse Mrs. Reshmi demonstrated thetechniques of hand wash using liquid soap.Teachers guided the children to repeat the sameand they were taken back to the washrooms forbrushing their teeth.Omani staff helped the children to change theirpyjama dress and they were made to sit aroundthe table to prepare a simple and healthySANDWICH using bread and vegetables. As aTake away activity children carried a stickpuppet on EAT HEALTHY AND STAY HEALTHY.Children enjoyed the activity , through whichthey also learnt the value of sharing and caring .

It has been decided that, the students of classes1 & 2 will be to taken to the MPH once a monthto watch a movie.
On May 2, 2019 the students were taken to theMPH for movie watching. The first movie was‘Babe: A Pig in the City’ which is a sequel of themovie ‘Babe’. The film extends the imaginationof everyone. It has a large cast of animalcharacters like chimpanzees, cats, duck, pelican,fish and dog.
The second film was ‘Finding Nemo’ . The filminvolves the adventures of little Nemo, a clownfish born with a undersized fin.There were interactive sessions in between ,where students were allowed to exchange theirlearning outcome.
PRE PRIMARY DEPARTMENT
The students of Class 2 weregiven a demonstration on howto count on the abacus. It wasan interactive session. Mr.Kumaran demonstrated howto do 2 digit Addition andSubtraction using fingers. Thechildren were asked to solve anumber of sums to test theirmental ability. Some werecalled on to the stage to solvethe sums. The resourceperson was well versed in hissubject and kept the audiencecompletely engaged.

The ‘ Investiture Ceremony’ for the academicyear 2019-20 was held on Thursday, 9 May2019 at the Multipurpose Hall, ISAM. H E.Nemah Bint Jamiel Bin Farhan Al Busaidiya -Member of Shura Council of the Muscat SeebDistrict, Sultanate of Oman, was the chiefguest for the event. The ceremonycommenced with the ceremonial lighting ofthe lamp by the dignitaries followed by therendition of the prayer song by the schoolwestern choir. Dr. Gladis Diana Sivakumar, theVice Principal welcomed the gathering andintroduced the ‘Ceremonial Heads’. The‘Blossoms’ were introduced by Mrs. VandanaKelkar, AVP, Primary. Mr. P. Prabakaran, thePrincipal, administered the Oath of Office tothe Ceremonial Heads and Blossoms.

Furthermore, the Ceremonial Headsand the Blossoms were conferred withthe badges by the honourable chiefguest. It was a proud moment indeedfor the young leaders as well as theirparents. The Head Girl SadhanaMalairaj, then took the pledge onbehalf of all the blossoms which wasfollowed by the blossoms prayer ledby Mrs. Vandana Kelkar, AVP, Primary.The young leaders were addressed bythe chief guest. They were reallyinspired by her words of wisdom. MrsVandana Kelkar proposed the vote ofthanks. The school anthem concludedthe ceremony.

students of standard III, IV and V conducted
the programme. The programme commenced
on both the days with the ceremonial lighting
of the lamp by the dignitaries followed by the
prayer song. Dr. Gladis Diana Sivakumar, the
Vice Principal welcomed the gathering. The
Principal, Mr. P Prabakaran enlightened the
gathering by taking everyone through the
vision of the school. . A total of 9 students
familiarized the parents with the functioning
of the school through power point
presentations.

functions planned for the academic
year, awareness on the usage of ERP,
infirmary services provided at school,

Mrs. Manjusha presented theevaluation pattern being followed inclass V, in depth. This was followedby a session with Mrs.Anumol Linz,Counseller. She briefed the parents oninclusive education and thecounselling services provided atschool. The parents were entertainedby a semiclassical dance performance.Mrs Vandana Kelkar, Assistant VicePrincipal proposed the vote of thankswhich was followed by the SchoolAnthem. The one and a half hoursession ended with a lot of takeawaysfor parents.
MIDDLE DEPARTMENT
The Malayalam Department of ISAM hascelebrated the birthday of the renownedpoet Kunjunni Mash on May 15, 2019. Theworld of Kunjunni was the title of the eventwhich described the literary world ofKunjunni mash to the audience.
The skit “Kunjunni Mash and the children”took all to the poetic world of kunjunnimash. Principal Mr P Prabakaraninaugurated the function and Vice PrincipalDr Gladis Diana Sivakumar , AVP middlesection Mrs. Seema Menon and HOD Mr. CP Sudheer shared their views on the genius,Kunjunni Mash.

As per the date of the school calendar, Mathteachers of the middle section conducted a Mathquiz program on 19/05/2019 exclusively for theclass VII students in MPH with the aim of helpingchildren to attain a firm foundation for the nextstage of learning. Four teams had been chosen forthe final stage of the competition based on theirperformance in a screening test conducted in all sixsections of class VII. The screening question paperhad 12 questions and students who had scoredabove 10 marks were selected for the final roundof the competition. 16 contestants were selectedafter the filtration round, and were divided into 4groups comprising of 4 members. The Aryabatta,The Brahmagupta, The Bhaskaracharya, TheRamanujan groups. Contestants were enthusiasticand they participated actively in the programme.The Quiz programme was organized in four rounds;the geometry round , the logic round, the Puzzleround and the Visual round. Students of classes 7A, B and C were present to witness theprogramme.
Mrs. Soumi Saji was the Quiz master,Mrs. Jesserin was the scorer and Mrs.Labooda was the Computer Operator.We also got support from non- teachingstaff and from the photography club fortaking photos of the event as a record.The team Aryabatta with 30 points andthe team Brahmagupta with 20 pointswere declared respectively as the firstand the second position winners of thecompetition. Spot prizes was given tothe audience who answered thequestions correctly . Overall theprogramme went on smoothly and wecould serve the students with amemorable and a stress – free day.
The Hindi Department (Middle) observedPREMCHAND DIWAS as per the yearprogram planner. Class 6th and 7th studentstook part in this program. Program hadstarted by 8 am as per the scheduled timeand got over by 9.35 am. Various programswere organized by middle school teachers.After the prayer the Principal, Vice Principaland Assistant Vice Principal addressed thegathering. The Hindi Department’s first E-magazine was launched by Principal Sir andthe Class 6 students delivered a speech onKAHANIKAR and UPANNYASKAR Premchand.At the end there was a very interestingDrama based on Premchand’s story‘Eidgaha’ played by 7th standard students.

Tarang 2019 –an inter house cultural fiesta was held on 11and 18 May 2019.A variety of cultural events like fine arts, performing artsand IT were scheduled.Total 13 events on day 1 and 9 events on day 2 werescheduled.2 judges for each event were invited from Indian schoolMuscat.
Inauguration function was marked on day 1at 8:00 am in MPH and the chief guestinvited for the same was Ms. Chitra Pothiraj,chairman, ASC, SMC, ISAM.Valedictory program was conducted on day 2at 12:30 pm in MPH, chief guest asP.Prabakaran, Principal, ISAM, giving awaythe prizes to all the winners.
Overall, around 800 students participated in thefiesta.The overall champions in junior category wereVivekananda house with 79 points.The overall champions in senior category wereAbdul Kalam house with 50 points.
