Rules of XY-Coordinate Graph

• Ordered pair is written as (x, y)

• First number of the ordered pair is called the x- coordinate (the horizontal axis)

• Second number of the ordered pair is the y- coordinate (the vertical axis)

• Origin is represented as (0, 0)

A Complete Graph

• All graphs should be neat, easy to read and be constructed with a straight edge

• Units along the axes are clearly labled

• The axes are labeled with words

• Must have a title

• Must have equal intervals

• Needs a key or a legend

Stem and Leaf Plot

• The stem is the part that represents the leading digit of the number

• The leaf represents the other digits after the leading digit

Box and Whisker Plot

• Box and Whisker Plots are divided into quartiles

• The lower half of the set of numbers is the lower quartile

• The upper half of the set of numbers is called the upper quartile

• To find the quartiles the numbers have to be arranged from least to greatest

Line Plot

• A line plot is used to show amounts or choices easily.
