hoW to uSe the manual
The profile manual should be used both internally by Axess employees and also by professional manufacturers. Here are some examples of who can do what:

loGo Symbol
The symbol is based on the circle, the most powerful symbol in the world. It has no beginning or end, and is often associated with something that never ceases: a cycle. The logo symbol is also an abstract interpretation of the Möbius strip. This is an object that permits uninterrupted movement from one side to the other without having to cross an edge. It provides a complete overview.The logo symbolises the way the company operates through the combi nation of cycle and overview.

The A in Axess points sharply upwards to create a proactive impression. The association with mountains and heights is also apparent. The logo typography supports and emphasises the impression of Axess as a dynamic, unambiguous and professionally competent company with a strong, thriving organisational culture.

The logo is made in two variants to be used on different backgrounds.
The logo symbol of the main logo is graded blue and the signature is dark grey. This variant should be used at all times, if possible, and should be placed on a white or completely light background.
The variant of the main logo has a white signature. This version is intended for a dark background.
Never use one of the logo colours as a background. Avoid placing the logo on a coloured background, particularly blue-green tones that camouflage the logo symbol. Ensure that the logo is clearly visible at all times.

These variants should only be used on occasions when it is not technically viable to use the other logos, for example, in engraving and embroidery.
Typical examples are engraving on ballpoint pens and cuff links, as well as logos on clothing, which are often embroidered.

WorD palette
The word palette comprises 14 state-ments that give Axess an extra element to underscore its identity. It displays both qualifications and personality.
The word palette should always be written in upper case.
'WE:' should always appear in Futura Heavy, while the subsequent word should appear in Futura Light. Use a space between words after a colon.
Use one sentence per surface; do not mix several messages.

Axessable Azur is the actual signal colour and is what we wish to be associated with. Axessable Azur may be used as a background colour for printed matter and may also be used in certain decor elements that we wish to promote.When the two primary colours are being used together, the turquoise should dominate in order to avoid creating an impression that is too dark. Both colours may be used with the graded tones illustrated in order to achieve lighter colour variants.The primary colours may also be combined with supplementary colours, refer to the following pages.

Contrasting colours are used to promote visual elements and to create tension and dynamics in the graphic expression.
Supplementary colours are only meant to be used in instances where there is a particular requirement for additional colours, e.g. complicated graphics, etc.

Separate Axess templates have been developed for Microsoft Word and PowerPoint. These may only be used on a PC, not a Mac.
The Microsoft Office package uses the colour space Generic RGB, which gives different codes than the standard colour space for the web (sRGB).
The theme colours in the Word and PowerPoint templates have been adjusted to this so do not change the codes. Nor should the codes be copied from here and used in creating web graphics in Adobe Photoshop, for example.
The Office software automatically generates a range of lighter and darker nuances of the theme colours. Also exercise caution in using these as they are often far removed from optimally selected nuances.

1 BACKGROUND
Axess has had a rapid growth over the past years and the organization has grown with it. The main focus has been growth not development of the organization. Today Axess is organized by departments but it can be seen that other solutions may be as good or better. It is better to look in to reorganization in good times, not when you have to! The management team in Axess decided that a task force should look in to this in detail.
1.1 The mandate Håkon Holmen was appointed as project manager for the task force and was given a mandate: Evaluate the current organization and where it can be improved. Provide the management team with recommendations.
1.2 Interpretation of the mandate
Include the whole of Axess, with all its legal entities (including international entities) Chosen method for evaluation, Alexander Osterwalders Business Model Canvas (BMC) and the
corresponding literature, Business Model Generation ISBN:978-0-470-87641-1. Use the Axess management team as steering committee. The team completing the study

2 THEORY AND THE BUSINESS MODEL CANVAS
A business model describes the rationale of how an organization creates, delivers and captures value.
2.1 Introduction to the Business Model Canvas (BMC) The team decided to use the BMC as a tool for evaluating the Axess organization. The focus point, focus lines and the word palette form a design element that may be used in different ways, most often as pure decor. This should contribute to confirming what Axess stands for through verbal statements, as well as providing a contrast to the visual expression.The design element should preferably be used by professional designers in the development of profiling advertisements, profile articles, magazines, etc.
Colours and wordsThe design element should always be rendered in Axess' signal colour, one of the contrasting colours, or white. The design element is positioned on backgrounds that provide an optimum contrast between the back ground and the element colour. As a background, Axess' primary and contrasting colours, a picture background or white may be used.Never use more than one colour and one statement per surface.Appropriate words are selected from the word palette.

Text size and line thickness will vary when the design element is scaled up and down. The minimum permissible font size is 6 point. The minimum line thickness is 0.5 point.These guidelines are intended to achieve the most optimum result. Professional designers may adapt according to their own requirements, where necessary.
Ensure that the lines run through the centre of the circle. As far as is possible, the lines should extend beyond the circle's edge.The thickness of the circle is set to A. This may also be made thinner, up to 1/2A. This gives the ratio 4A = 1/2A + 3A + 1/2A.

A series of illustrations have been made that are a combination of watercolours and photographs. These illustrations have a characteristic feel that is unique to Axess and may be used in job advertisements, posters, stand walls, etc.If desired, the watercolours may be combined with focus lines and the emotional statement.There are two versions of water-colours: work pictures and leisure pictures. The use of images is an important part of the profile. Our choice of images will influence the recipient's lasting impression of Axess. Axess' image style is characterised by an amenable atmosphere. Sharp colours and good light create a land-scape or an environment that one would wish to be a part of. At Axess, people are the heroes. They are open, honest and resilient. They do the job from start to finish – and don't mind getting their hands dirty.Images depicting work operations and technical installations should always show situations that are correct from a safety perspective.When we photograph and adjust images ourselves, these guidelines must always be observed. Axess' decor elements may be used on walls and glass surfaces in office premises. If desired, appropriate words from the word palette may be chosen, although only one statement per surface should be used.
The lines in the decor element should not be thinner than 10 mm.

When mounting text and logos on different signs, the logo should be positioned above head height, while information text should be at reading height.
The logo and and logo text should always be centrally positioned on the sign. The size should be adapted to the sign. Ensure that there is enough space around the logo. See examples of positioning.

Ideally, the main logo in turquoise should be used on articles of clothing. At the same time, compromises must often be made when it comes to clothing. Different suppliers often have their their own colours for their collections, which we are obliged to choose from. Thus, we must select the most appropriate logo variant. There may also be other aspects, such as safety, that are important considerations.
The graphic elements work very well as artistic decor on clothing.

boiler Suit
Axess boiler suits are bright red with a white logo. Red clashes considerably with Axess’ design colours. There are, however, very good reasons for using this colour:
The boiler suits are highly visible and recognisable offshore.
Axess employees are the only employees in the North Sea that use these specific boiler suits.
In terms of safety, the boiler suits are the best option.
