Visual communication is a key thread in our work to engage New Zealanders and to be an agent for changes that lead to everyone getting ahead financially. This role will be working with the whole organisation to integrate inspiring design into our activities. This starts with concept design right through to final artwork for use in a full spectrum of environments. While we are largely digital first our work takes us into print, media, video, business reporting and more. The role will contribute to the development of fresh visuals for campaign communications, projects for our core offerings such as Sorted. Key aspects of the role include Collaborating across CFFC to integrate inspiring design into our communications activities. Development of visual treatments for campaign, project and ongoing activities that enhance engagement and behaviour change outcomes. Production of design layouts, copy placement, graphic design, digital video elements and image management for a range of digital and print communication elements.

Key tasks and accountabilities

The Graphic Designer has responsibility for the following key areas:

Design development

• Develop design and creative concepts through to final art for a range of visual executions.

• Image sourcing, manipulation and repurposing of design elements for development of communications materials.

• Manage a library of branded templates and elements that can be re-purposed for different situations.

• Liaison with external suppliers for outsourced graphic design requirements.

• Manage the print and production processes to balance quality, cost and timing.

• Keep abreast of new and emerging design trends and technologies that can be applied at CFFC to assist in making our communications relevant and engaging.

• Routinely test design outcomes for outtakes and interpretation to ensure the desired communication objective is achieved through the design execution.

Digital design

• We are a digital-first organisation, so strong knowledge and understanding of mobile first design needs and key social media platforms is desired.

Communication

• This role spans across multiple stakeholders – so demands a highly relatable individual with the ability engage easily.

• Strong ability to communicate and collaborate effectively to ensure clarity of the task and challenge requirements is essential.

• Ability to rationalise design decisions and not shy away from healthy tensions within the organisation.

Team contribution

• Working collaboratively with the team to optimise the briefing process in understanding design requirements and delivering best in class design outcomes.

• Able to self-manage, prioritise and multitask to finalise projects within given timeframes.

Health and safety

• Support the team to ensure we create a culture where health and safety if paramount.

• Continually assess and promote safe working conditions for all employees.

• Ensure all accidents, incidents and hazards are reported accurately and in a timely manner.

• Actively promote and support the health & safety policy and procedures.

Other duties • Fulfil other duties as required by management and other department personnel.

Essential skills and experience • Minimum of 3 years relevant experience in graphic design across a variety of

modes. • Demonstrated design experience in the digital environment. • Fluent in Creative Cloud design programmes which enable interactive and

dynamic features. • Knowledge of emerging design trends and technologies. • Ability to multi-task multiple tasks and stakeholders at any given time. • Ability to self-manage, prioritise workload and be proactive. • Experienced in the development of infographics. • Demonstrated experience in print management processes. • An appreciation, understanding and exposure to Maori and Pasifika to influence

the development of graphic designs that resonate with these audiences. • The ability to communicate clearly and concisely, varying design style depending

upon the audience. • Ideally, design experience in the intersection of digital design and behaviour

change. • Interest in the finance sector. • This position demands a highly relatable individual with the ability to engage easily,

build strong and lasting relationships and not shy away from healthy tensions within the organisation.
