The Junior League of Springfield (JLS) is pleased to announce details regarding our participation in the Grantmakers' Challenge for Children. During the course of this five-year campaign through the Community Foundation of the Ozarks, JLS granted and committed over $750,000. More than $660,000 of those dollars were designated to support our signature project, Isabel’s House, the Crisis Nursery of the Ozarks. It has been a privilege to participate in this vital process of community collaboration as we all put forth tireless effort to make a positive impact with our most precious citizens, the children of this community. The outstanding accomplishments of the Grantmakers' Challenge for Children will undoubtedly make a lasting difference for generations to come. The mission of Isabel’s House is to provide immediate refuge for children ages birth to 12 whose families are in crisis. These situations may include loss of a home, drug or alcohol rehabilitation, loss of utilities, emergency hospital stays and more. When a home becomes unsafe, the children of our community deserve a welcoming haven. By partnering with families and the community, Isabel’s House will strengthen families and prevent child abuse and neglect. Since opening in June 2007, more than 1,200 children, representing over 600 families, have been served; and 91% of families have reported a reduction in stress after utilizing Isabel’s House. Since 1959, JLS has contributed over $4.6 millionand 1.3 million volunteer service hours to the

In 2010–2011, the Junior League of Springfield contributed $110,400 in direct communitysupport and invested an additional $31,800 developing the potential of women and trainingour volunteers to improve the community through effective action and leadership. JLSmembers provided 20,100 volunteer hours towards the JLS mission and devoted anadditional 15,500 hours to other community projects.
