The Junior League of Springfield (JLS) ispleased to announce details regardingour participation in the Grantmakers'Challenge for Children. During thecourse of this five-year campaignthrough the Community Foundation ofthe Ozarks, JLS granted and committedover $750,000. More than $660,000 of those dollars were designated tosupport our signature project, Isabel’s House, the Crisis Nursery of the Ozarks.

It has been a privilege to participate inthis vital process of communitycollaboration as we all put forth tirelesseffort to make a positive impact with ourmost precious citizens, the children of

this community. The outstandingaccomplishments of the Grantmakers'Challenge for Children will undoubtedlymake a lasting difference forgenerations to come.

The mission of Isabel’s House is toprovide immediate refuge for childrenages birth to 12 whose families are incrisis. These situations may include lossof a home, drug or alcohol rehabilitation,

loss of utilities, emergency hospitalstays and more.

When a home becomes unsafe, thechildren of our community deserve awelcoming haven. By partnering withfamilies and the community, Isabel’sHouse will strengthen families andprevent child abuse and neglect.

Since opening in June 2007, more than1,200 children, representing over 600families, have been served; and 91% offamilies have reported a reduction instress after utilizing Isabel’s House. TheJunior League of Springfield is proud tobe part of this endeavor that hastouched so many lives.

The Junior League of Springfield, Inc. is an organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing thepotential of women and improving the community through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. Itspurpose is exclusively educational and charitable.

The Junior League of Springfield(JLS) reaches out to women of allraces, religions and national originswho demonstrate an interest in and acommitment to voluntarism.Membership in the Junior League ofSpringfield is open to any womanover the age of 21. JLS currently hasover 600 members.

AJLI AFFILIATIONJLS began in 1959 as the CommunityService League of Springfield andbecame the 231st member of theAssociation of Junior LeaguesInternational, Inc. (AJLI) in 1976.Today, AJLI consists of leagues in 292communities throughout the UnitedStates, Canada, Mexico, and GreatBritain.

Since 1959, JLS has contributed over $4.6 millionand 1.3 million volunteer service hours to the

Springfield community. We truly are an organization of womencommitted to building a better community, leveraging all of thesupport provided through our trained volunteers to make a positive,sustainable difference for generations to come.

In 2010–2011, the Junior League of Springfield contributed $110,400 in direct communitysupport and invested an additional $31,800 developing the potential of women and trainingour volunteers to improve the community through effective action and leadership. JLSmembers provided 20,100 volunteer hours towards the JLS mission and devoted anadditional 15,500 hours to other community projects.
