Grange Youth Camp/Conference
Songs
As Compiled by the National Grange Youth Department

Greetings! Camp Songs are a great way to bring unity to a group of Grangers. They have also been a part of our
organization’s camp culture. Songs can engage Grangers, demonstrate enthusiasm and excitement and
communicate thoughts through the camp experience.
On the following pages are just a sampling of camp songs available for your event. There are also several online
resources with additional songs, audio samplings and ideas available.
Enjoy!
Charlene M. Shupp Espenshade
National Grange Youth Director
Leader Suggestions
LEADING THE SONG 1. Think of yourself as the leader. Do not let the group led you. 2. Keep your song introductions to a minimum. 3. Put yourself across to the group. Look at the group. 4. Make the start of each song clear. If there is music, sound the first note or chord played just before starting to sing. 5. Sing yourself. Lead easily, not as a boss, but as a helper. 6. Work for enthusiasm. It often helps to praise the group as they learn a song. 7. Speak and lead clearly and definitely. TEACHING A NEW SONG 1. Be thorough in learning the song yourself. Think about and organize how you are going to teach it. 2. If there is a climax at the end, it would be a good idea to teach the ending first. 3. Teach just a few lines at a time, no more than you could absorb if you were learning a song for the first time. 4. If one is available, have an accompanist play the song while you SAY the words. It is more easily taught by saying rather than singing the words.

Camp Grace Songs
Adams Family Grace
(To The Tune of “The Adams Family”)
We thank the lord for giving
The food we need for living
Because we really need it
And we like to eat it.
Chorus:
Na Na Na Nah (Snap Fingers Twice)
Na Na Na Nah (Snap Fingers Twice)
Na Na Na Nah (Sing Three Times)
(Then Snap Fingers Twice, Last Time Say Amen)
We’re thirsty and we’re hungry
Want something in our tummy
The food looks mighty yummy
And so we thank the lord.
Repeat Chorus
We thank you lord for giving
The food we need for living
For friends, fun and family
We thank you now oh lord.
Repeat Chorus
Chim Chim Cheree Doxology
Description
(Sung to the Mary Poppins Tune "Chim Chim
Cheree")
Praise god from whom all blessings flow,
Praise him all creatures here below.
Praise him above ye heavenly host,
Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.
Amen, Amen, Amen, Amen!
Amen, Amen, Amen, Amen!
(Sing As Many Parts As You Can On Last 'Amen'!)
Flintstones Grace
(Tune of Flintstones Theme Song)
God Is – Great – And God Is – Good
And Let Us Thank Him For Our Food.
God Is – Great – And God Is – Good
And Let Us Thank Him For Our Food.
Amen. Ah-Ah-Ah-Ah-Ah-Ah-Men.
Amen. Ah-Ah-Ah-Ah-Ah-Ah-Men.
Johnny Appleseed
Oooh the Lord is good to me,
And so I thank the Lord,
For giving me the things I need,
The sun and the rain and the apple seed
The Lord is good to me...
For every seed I sow
An apple tree will grow
And soon they'll be an apple tree
Enough for the whole wide world to see
The lord is good to me....
Oh, here I am, under the great blue sky
Doing as I please
Singing with my feathered friends and humming
with the bees......
I wake up every day
As happy as can be
Because I know that with god's care
The apple tree will soon be there
The lord is good to me....
Johnny Appleseed amen!
Thanks Be to God
(Sung To The Song Windy)
Thanks be to God the Father Almighty,
Thanks be to God who gives us our bread,
Thanks be to God the Spirit Eternal,
Thanks be to God forever.

Thank You Lord For Giving Us Food
(Sung To The Superman Theme)
Thank you Lord for giving us food
Thank you Lord for giving us food
By his hands, we are fed
Thank you Lord for giving us food
Thank you Lord for giving us food
Evening Grace
(Sung To The Tune Of “What Child Is This”)
We thank you Lord at our evening meal,
For the blessings, friendships and love we feel.
Oh guide our minds and our hearts we pray,
Let us all make tomorrow a joyful day.
We Will Rock You Grace
(Campers can keep rhythm by slapping their palms
against their legs twice, followed by clapping their
hands once, in a continuous pattern)
God, you are a good God
Please accept this grace
As we sit and feed our face
We've got food on our plates
We think that's great
Pretty soon we'll be puttin' on weight
Singin' we will, we will thank you
We will, we will thank you
Amen!

Little Bunny Foo Foo
Chorus:
Little bunny foo foo
Hopping through the forest
Scooping up the field mice
And bopping ‘em on the head
And down came the good fairy
And she said
“little bunny foo foo
I don’t like you’re attitude
Scooping up the field mice
And bopping ‘em on the head”
I’ll give you 3 chances.
Then I’ll turn you into a goon!
The next day…
Chorus
(repeat two more verses with 2 and 1 chances)

Now I’ll turn you into a goon!”
(poof!)
And the moral of the story is:
Hare today, goon tomorrow!
Old Lady Leary
Late last night when we were all in bed
Old lady leary hung a lantern in the shed
When the cow kicked it over
She winked her eye and said:
“There’ll be a hot time in the old town tonight!”
Fire, fire, fire!
On Top Of Spaghetti
(Tune: On Top Of Old Smokey)
On top of spaghetti
All covered with cheese
I lost my poor meatball
When somebody sneezed.
It rolled off the table
And onto the floor,
And then my poor meatball
Rolled out of the door.
It rolled in the garden
And under a bush.
And then my poor meatball
Was nothing but mush.
The mush was as tasty
As tasty could be.
And early next summer
It grew into a tree.
The tree was all covered
With beautiful moss.
It grew lovely meatballs
And tomato sauce.
So if you eat spaghetti
All covered with cheese,
Hold on to your meatballs
And don't ever sneeze.

My Pink Pajamas
(Tune: Battle Hymn Of The Republic)
I wear my pink pajamas in the summer when it’s
hot
And i wear my flannel nightie in the winter when
it’s not
And sometimes in the balmy spring and sometimes
in the fall
I jump right in between the sheets with nothing on
at all.
Glory, glory for the summer
Glory, glory for the fall
Glory, glory for the springtime
With nothing on at all.
We wear our silk pajamas in the summer when it’s
hot
We wear our woolen undies in the winter when it
not
And sometimes in the springtime and sometimes in
the fall
We jump between the covers with nothing on at all.
Glory, glory, what’s it to ya
Glory, glory, what’s it to ya
Glory, glory, what’s it to ya
We jump between the covers with nothing on at all

But when you're only half way up
You're neither up nor down.
If you're happy and you know it
If you're happy and you know it, clap your hands.
If you're happy and you know it, clap your hands.
If you're happy and you know it and you really want to show it,
If you're happy and you know it, clap your hands.

Oh, What A Beautiful Morning
Oh, what a beautiful morning,
Oh, what a beautiful day,
I’ve got a wonderful feeling,
Everything’s going my way.
There’s a bright golden haze on the meadow,
There’s a bright golden haze on the meadow,
The corn is as high as an elephants’ eye,
And it looks like it’s climbing right up to the sky.
Oh, what a beautiful morning,
Oh, what a beautiful day,
I’ve got a wonderful feeling,
Everything’s going my way.

This Land Is Your Land
This land is your land, this land is my land
From California to the New York island
From the redwood forest to the Gulf Stream waters
This land was made for you and me.
As I was walking along the highway
I saw above me an endless skyway
I saw below me those golden valleys
This land was made for you and me.
I roamed and rambled and i followed my footsteps
To the sparkling sands of her diamond desert
And all around me a voice was singing
This land was made for you and me.
America The Beautiful
O Beautiful For Spacious Skies
For Amber Waves Of Grain,
For Purple Mountain Majesties
Above The Fruited Plain!
America! America!
God Shed His Grace On Thee,
And Crown Thy Good With Brotherhood
From Sea To Shining Sea!
O Beautiful For Patriot Dream
That Sees Beyond The Years
Thine Alabaster Cities Gleam,
Undimmed By Human Tears!
America! America!
God Shed His Grace On Thee,
And Crown Thy Good With Brotherhood
From Sea To Shining Sea!
God Bless America
God Bless America, Land That I Love
Stand Beside Her And Guide Her
Thru The Night With The Light From Above;
From The Mountains, To The Prairies
To The Ocean White With Foam,
God Bless America, My Home Sweet Home,
God Bless America, My Home Sweet Home.
America
My country, ‘tis of thee,
Sweet land of liberty,
Of thee I sing;
Land where my fathers died,
Land of the pilgrims’ pride,
From every mountainside,
Let freedom ring.
Let There Be Peace On Earth
Let there be peace on earth and let it begin with me,
Let there be peace on earth the peace that was
meant to be.
With god as our father brothers all are we,
Let me walk with my brother in perfect harmony.
Let there be peace on earth let this be the moment
now
With every step i take let this be my solemn vow,
To take each moment and live each moment in
peace eternally,
Let there be peace on earth,
And let it begin with me.
Pass It On
It only takes a spark to get a fire going,
And soon all those around can warm up in its
glowing,
That’s how it is with god’s love.
Once you’ve experienced it, you spread his love to
everyone,
You want to pass it on.
What a wondrous time is spring when all the trees
are budding,
The birds begin to sing, the flowers start their
blooming,
That’s how it is with god’s love,
Once you’ve experienced it, you want to sing its
fresh like spring,
You want to pass it on.
I wish for you my friend, this happiness that i’ve
found,
You can depend on him, it matters not where you’re
bound,
I’ll shout it from the mountain top,
I want my world to know, the lord of love has come
to me,
I want to pass it on.
