Francisco “Frank” Tolentino of Calamba branch was named Franchisee of the Year for 2011. Besting 15 other finalists to bag the top spot in this year’s PR Gaz Franchise Awards, Tolentino garnered the highest score in the total points-tally of criteria. His branch head Philippina Catangay was chosen the Franchisee’s Employee of the Year.

“Masaya ako with the award. People consider you a role model especially since second time namin to win. We make it a point to follow the company’s guidelines and implement operations according to their standards,” Tolentino said. In 2009, the OFW franchisee was named the very first winner when PR Gaz launched its search for the top performing franchisees in its chain.

Other winners in the search are Jean Decena of Calasiao branch, who scored 96.21% in the criteria tally, got the 1st runner up spot, and Anjannette Rico of Molino who landed 2nd with 93.68%. Making it to the Honorable Mention list are: Mary Mizel Gomez of Las Piñas 1 (93.05%); Annaliza Pesayco of Bacoor 2 (91.97%); Jean Decena of Binmaley (91.95%); Prescilla Buenaventura of Balanga (91.94%); Cecilia Biagtas of Manaoag

An OFW since 2002, Frank works as an enterprise development specialist for an international organization. It was during his stay in the Philippines that he started looking for a business to invest in and got a PR Gaz franchise back in 2006. Even if he is away, Frank is always able to do his own monitoring of his stores—work together with his staff on things that needed improvement. He operates the Calamba store with the help of his wife Zenaida and their five children. Early this year, the Tolentino couple opened their second PR Gaz franchise in Tanauan Batangas.

The PR Gaz Franchise Awards aims to recognize and promote excellence, consistency and exceptional performance of franchisees and their staff in the PR Gaz store chain.

OFW franchisee is top pick in PR Gaz annual search

Around 600 employees, franchisees and their staff, company officials and guests attended the first Grand PR Gaz Christmas Party last December 4.

Held at the sprawling PR Gaz Warehouse Complex in Barangay San Isidro, Lubao, Pampanga, the grand celebration brought together store, satellite plant, and field office personnel from the National Capital Region, and from the provinces of Laguna, Batangas, Cavite, Tarlac, Pampanga, La Union, Zambales, including that of franchise areas, to a whole day of feasting, activities and entertainment. Prizes were also raffled off.

With the theme “Paskong Fiesta, Sama-sama sa 500 in 5”, the celebration also featured the first sales rally event conducted by the Retail Sales Group. The activity was livened up by the cheers of employees from the four operational areas. Store branch heads, district sales coordinators and managers

also presented LPG tank replicas bearing their 2012 sales volume commitment to PR Gaz Chairman Nelson Par.

Major sponsors of the grand Christmas party were G.H. Garcia Development Inc., Knights Transportation and CAT Transport. PR Gaz officials hold strategic planning in Tagaytay

Sa pamilyang Filipino, tradisyon na ang pagtitipon-tipon ng pamilya upang ipagdiwang ang Kapaskuhan. Nariyan na ang pag-uwi ng mga kaanak na nasa malayong lugar, o sa ibang bansa man, lalo na para sa mga kababayan nating OFW, upang makasama ang kanilang mga mahal sa buhay sa araw ng Pasko.

Wala na yatang mas sasaya pa sa selebrasyong ganito. Kaya nga nitong unang Linggo ng Disyembre, ginanap sa kauna-unahang pagkakataon ang PR Gaz Grand Christmas Party.

Sa mga nakalipas na taon, karaniwan ng ginagawa sa apat na magkakahiwalay na lugar—Metro Manila, Cavite, Pangasinan at Zambales—ang Christmas party ng kumpanyang PR Gaz. Sa taong ito, naisip ko na pagsamahin naman ang mga party na ito sa iisang selebrasyon na lamang—upang maramdaman ng bawat isa sa organisasyon kung gaano na kalaki ang grupo,

at makilala din ang mga kasamahan at ka-trabaho sa ibang lugar.

Napili kong pag-dausan ang bago nating warehouse complex sa Lubao, Pampanga para sa pagdiriwang na ito. Kahit na maulan ang buong araw ng Disyembre 4, at marami sa mga kasamahan natin ang bumiyahe pa ng malayo, halos 600 na empleyado, franchisees, mga opisyal at mga bisita ang dumalo. Sa mga sponsors at mga sumuporta sa selebrasyon ng PR Gaz, maraming salamat po sa inyo.

Coach Chot Reyes topbills 6th PR Gaz franchise conferenceLocal basketball luminary Chot Reyes was the key resource person at the recently concluded 6th PR Gaz Franchise Conference. He spoke on the conference’s theme “Achieving Work-Life Balance; Nurturing the Passion and Attitude for Success”.

Held at the Vista Marina Hotel in Subic, Zambales, the 6th PR Gaz Franchise Conference were participated in by franchisees and officials of the local LPG firm.

An annual company event, the Franchise Conference gathers PR Gaz franchisees from the National Capital Region, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Pampanga and Zambales areas for two days of workshops and activities designed to enhance their entrepreneurial skills. It also aims to foster camaraderie among PR Gaz franchisees from the different provinces. Globe Business also supported the PR Gaz event.

PR Gaz wins Outstanding Filipino Franchise of the Year Award

PR Gaz was adjudged one of the top winners in the 11th Franchise Excellence Awards (FEA), bagging the Outstanding Filipino Franchise of the Year for the medium category. The awarding was held September 22 at the SMX Convention Center during the International Gala Night ceremony of Franchise Asia 2011.

The Outstanding Filipino Franchise of the Year winners were judged based on the criteria: growth and financial performance, profitability, franchise program, sales and marketing, reputation, franchise system development, and corporate social responsibility. The franchise must also be homegrown in concept and originally incorporated in the Philippines, and have been in

franchise operations for a minimum of five years.

Considered by many as the “Oscars” of franchising in the country, the Franchise Excellence Awards is a joint project of the Philippine Franchise Association and the Department of Trade and Industry in cooperation with the Philippine Retailers Association and the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry. FEA is the only award of distinction from the Philippine franchise sector and the pioneer seal of recognition and excellence awarded to the country’s local and foreign franchisors that have epitomized excellence both in terms of business growth and good ethical practices, becoming benchmarks of success in the sector.

Two new franchisees have officially joined the PR Gaz chain. First to sign the franchise agreement middle this year was Gaylord Villanueva. He operates the Mandaluyong-2 branch. Following him was Perlita Verdes who acquired the store in Angeles City,

Pampanga. This ups the tally of PR Gaz franchises to 135.

Renewing their franchises for another full term are Mariles Yap for the Damar branch, Atty. Cesar Geronimo for Santa Rosa-Rizal, Teodoro Catindig for Malasiqui, Engr. Jean Decena for Calasiao, and Francisco Tolentino for Calamba.

Suki customer from Camarin, Caloocan. Ms. Basal went to the PR Gaz head office in Pasig on October 18. She was accompanied by her husband Edwin. She was followed by Nancy Santos of Gen. T. de Leon, Valenzuela City who came to the PR Gaz head office on October 21 to claim her prize.

Last to claim his prize was Wilson Santos, the lone PR Gaz Suki grand winner from the provincial area. Mr. Santos went to the PR Gaz satellite office in Santa Barbara, Pangasinan on November to get his scooter prize. He is from the town of Basista.

NEW BILLBOARDS, TVC. PR Gaz recently unveiled the new designs for its large billboards in Pangasinan and Cavite. Featured in the Bacoor and Urdaneta billboards is the product ad showing the white PR Gaz laser-stamped seal, latest security feature of its LPG cylinders, a PR Gaz Haus outlet and a male model sporting the official PR Gaz store delivery crew uniform. The male model also appeared in the first television commercial of PR Gaz which aired in the Go Negosyo program in GMA NewsTV Channel 11. In addition, another billboard was unveiled at the Bacoor site which featured the franchising program.

Ang LPG safety seminar ay regular na programa ng PR Gaz na naglalayong ituro sa mga mamamayan sa mga komunidad ang tama at ligtas na paggamit ng LPG. Itinuturo din sa mga mamimili kung paano makakasiguro na de-kalidad ang nabili nitong tangke ng LPG at paano malalaman kung illegally-refilled and nabili. Ang mga seminar na ito ay ginaganap ng PR Gaz sa pakikipag-ugnayan sa mga opisyal ng mga barangay.

Paraan ng pagluto:Linisin ang pata sa pamamagitan ng pag-alis o pagkayod ng mga balahibo nito gamit ang matalas na kutsilyo. Hugasang maigi. Gumawa ng 4-5 pulgadang haba na hiwa sa paligid ng pata. Sa isang malalim na kaldero, ilubog ang pata sa pinaghalong tubig, soda, dahong laurel at asin. Sindihan ang PR Gaz LPG at kalan at isalang na ang kaldero hanggang kumulo ang laman nito. Hayaan ng 30 minuto ang pagkulo. Ibuhos ang baking soda at pakuluin ng 20 minuto pa. Hanguin ang pata at patuluin ng 24 oras upang matuyo. Maari din patuyuin ang pata sa pamamagitan ng paglalagay nito sa refrigerator ng 2 o 3 oras. Matapos ang proseso ng pagpapatuyo, kuskusan ito ng dinurog na bawang, paminta at patis. Budburan ng arina. Sa isang malalim na kawali, painitin ang mantika at iprito na ang pata dito hanggang maging golden brown ang kulay. Sawsawan para sa Crispy Pata: Paghaluin ang 3/4 tasang suka, 1/4 tasang toyo, 2 o higit pang ulo ng bawang (dinurog), isang malaking pirasong sibuyas (hiniwa ng maliliit), isang pirasong siling labuyo (hiniwa), asin at paminta ayon sa panlasa.

Tip pampasarapMaaring samahan ng 5 pirasong star anise para sa mas espesyal na lasa. Lagyan din ng hiniwang orange at puting sibuyas kapag hinain. Subukan din ang Gazman special sauce: Paghaluing mabuti sa isang sauce pan: isang tasang pineapple juice, 1/4 tasang banana ketchup at isang kutsarang cornstarch. Lutuin sa katamtamang apoy hanggang kumulo.
