At Stirling Cycle Hub we encourage and support people to get on their
bikes. We are passionate about cycling in all its forms and about the benefits it has both for the individual and for the community. We work within the following Vision and Aims to improve
and increase cycling in the Stirling area.
Vision
• To work towards a healthier, greener future by encouraging and supporting more people to cycle
Aims • To provide expert knowledge of cycle routes and support networks
in & around Stirling • To encourage and support individuals and groups to regularly cycle
as a healthy leisure activity • To encourage and support Employers and Employees to consider
commuting by bike as an alternative to other forms of transport • To work in partnership with and to signpost to existing cycling
provisions • To work towards these aims both through running and maintaining
a welcoming, professional space and through providing support and encouragement to communities and community groups
Staff Training
• We are all qualified to deliver the Cycling Scotland Essential Cycling Skills training programmes and are more than happy to deliver this service to employee groups as well as the sessions we run periodically from the Hub.
Accompanied Commutes
• We provide a service where should someone be considering commuting to work by bike but lack a bit of confidence we will help plot the safest and quickest routes on our GPS systems before actually cycling the routes with them, either actually on their way to work or at another time that suits. We hope this is a good way of providing support and encouragement while building confidence.

Partnership Model • As will all our work partnerships with local
organisations/institutions were incredibly important in the setting up, development and on going success of the Nextbike scheme
• Stirling Council • Stirling University • Forth Valley College • Keep Scotland Beautiful • The Scottish Environmental Protection Agency • Forth Valley NHS • Averaged 22.1 hires per day in April
Employers
• We have recently been successful in securing Smarter Choice Smarter Places funding for our Employer Engagement Programme. We will work intensively with 3 employers in Stirling assessing the numbers of employees who currently cycle and the barriers hindering others. We will work on a series of events and measures throughout the year to remove these barriers and increase the numbers cycling to work before our end of year survey which will assess the success of the programme
Employer Engagement
• Stirling Council • Prudential • Forth Valley College
• Series of measures tailored to the needs of each
employer including, led rides, accessing funding for better infrastructure, maintenance classes, cycle training, incentive scheme, pop up hubs, Dr Bikes, implementation of Nextbike and anything else relevant to the particular employer.
Social Networks • Twitter – 898 followers • Facebook – 1093 likes • Monthly Emailing List – 385 subscribers • Our Website at www.stirlingcyclehub.org
• Please follow, like or subscribe to keep up with our latest events and news
Evidencing our work • We carry out an end of year survey each year which is designed to
show wither our events, advice and other offerings actually get more people cycling, this years survey compaired to last years showed a small increase in cycling in general and a larger increase in people moving from leisure cycling to commuting.
• It is hoped that year upon year we can keep these figures increasing • We carry out a bike count around the various bike parking places at
the train station every two months and every count to date has seen an increase when compared to the same month the previous year.
• March 2014 – 25 bikes per day • March 2015 – 40 bikes per day • As mentioned previously Nextbike currently gets 22.1 hires per day
Feedback • I have been following the Cycle Hub since it opened and have attended
previous events which have slowly encouraged me to cycle more often. The Cycle Hub has made it fun but challenging which has kept me interested and we as a family are always on the lookout for the next event. On the run up to this particular event we have been kept informed at every stage and all the ladies who participated were extremely well looked after!! Well done Cycle Hub for organising such a fabulous event, looking forward to lots more like this. Laurie-Lee Moodie re Ladies 100k
• I'm glad there are people like you to help people like me! Just been on my first Hub Club Ride after doing regular meanders and loved it! Thanks. Alison Cowie re Hub Club Rides
• 82 young people attended the event and many of them have listed your workshop as being "The best thing about Create McLaren" - praise indeed! Katie Carmichael Stirling Youth Services
