Program Director's ReportBrothers, a new fraternal year is upon us and we are working on plans for many great activities. The first activity coming up is the 4th of July Picnic. The festivities for Independence Day kick off with the City of Arlington Parade. The Knights of Columbus is the longest participating group for this parade. We are #25 (Row 2) in the parade. Please plan on being in the big UTA parking lot on the corner of Cooper and Mitchell Streets no later than 8:30am, as the parade steps off promptly at 9:00. We encourage all members to wear a Knights of Columbus shirt and cap in any combination of red, white, and blue. Shorts are okay but our shirts and caps should identify us as Knights of Columbus. Following the parade, Council will host a picnic at the hall. The picnic will kick-off at noon or as soon as you leave the parade. Council will provide the meat, (pulled pork, hot dogs and hamburgers). Please bring a side dish to share. Mike Valdez will be the chief cook but will need help to prepare and serve the meat. We also need help in multiple other areas. We need help with set-up, running activities for the kids, the washer tournament, and clean-up. If you can help in any of these areas, contact Shad Dooley or me. The next major event will be the Labor Day Picnic/ Dallas Cowboy Season Ticket give-away on September 2nd. Looking further out we will have numerous events for which will need assistance, including Monday Night Football, events for Halloween, Christmas and New Year’s Eve. All of the directors for our various committees will need some help. So, if you are interested in any of these areas, please contact these Brothers: Family - Jared Lopez; Youth - Darin Cyphers; Vocations - Darrell Derrickson; Faith - Mike Irwin; Community - Ken Johnson; Life - Chris Hoelscher; Council - Pat Poskey; BBQ Cook-off - Patric Powell/David Lara; Chili cook-off - Todd Boyles; Membership - Steve Webb.John P PoskeyProgram Director

Supporting Our PriestOur Former Chaplin Fr Charles is in need of Assistance. Fr Charles is currently serving in the Archdiocese of Kumasi, Ghana, West Africa. He has recently been accepted to continue his education at Boston College where he will pursue his Masters in Sacred Theology. This advanced masters program prepares scholars and ministers for leadership in the Church. The Licentiate of Sacred Theology (STL) is the second cycle of studies of a faculty of theology offered by pontifical universities or Ecclesiastical Faculties of sacred theology. The licentiate is a graduate degree with canonical effects in the Roman Catholic Church. It will give him a Licentiate in Sacred Theology to teach in the seminary. It is also required before he can embark on any Doctoral program in the field of Sacred Theology. Fr. Charles’s Archbishop has asked him to ask his friends in USA to help with the tuition, because the Archdiocese is short of funds at the moment. He has been asked to raise $7000. He has humbly appealed to us to get donations to study at Boston College in order to help the Catholic Church. In order to assist him, we are going to host a Texas Hold’em Tournament- July 26th. Registration/Check-in will begin at 6:30 pm. Play will begin approximately 7:30 pm. Entries are $50. Re-buys will be available for those knocked out in the first hour of play. 50% of the money raised will go to the players pool, and 50% will go to Fr Charles for his education. Hot dogs and hamburgers will be available. We are looking for donations of desserts that can be sold, such as cookies or cake. So please come out and help us raise some money for Fr Charles. If you would like to make a donation directly to Fr Charles, let me know and I can get you in contact with him. If you have any questions, contact Chris Patterson or me.Thank You, John P PoskeyProgram Director
