Dear Grand Hampton residents, Besides celebrating Valentine’s Day, make sure this month and in March, that you support Girl Scouts and buy lots of Girl Scout cookies. Thin Mints are my favorite. Speaking of Valentine’s Day, I thought I would give you a little cheat sheet for all the “love “ cards you will be sending out. Use one of these short endearments!

Even if the sun refused to shineEven if romance ran out of rhyme

You would still have my heartTill the end of time

I Love You

Hearts and flowers... Poetry...

Love songs... Ribbons and bows...

Yeah, I’d rather have the chocolate, too!Mom, Valentine’s Day and every day…

...you’re the heart of our family!

Happy Valentine’s Day to my first husband. That’s just to keep you on your toes!

I’m glad I married you.And I bet the kids are, too!

This Valentine’s DayI thought we would have

some good clean fun.Meet me in the tub.

Happy Valentine’s Day ...and now I’m going to say something

that will make you feel ecstatic...You have a chocolate deficiency.

This Valentine’s Day let’s not spend a fortuneon gifts for each other...

But I know how you hate to be told what to do!

Some women don’t need flowers, candy, or candlelight dinners

on Valentine’s Day.Please be advised thatI am not one of them.

This Valentine’s Day I wanta romantic meal...

Any place that doesn’t ask, ‘You want any fries with that?’

It’s not every day that I tell you I love you...

OK, maybe it is, but Valentine’s Day

is still special.

You always show how much you carewith the loving things you doFrom a tender kiss to a warm

embrace and whisper “I LOVE YOU”

Hi Grand Hampton families,

Romance is in the air and we have many fun activities happening in Grand Hampton. From Kids' Valentine's Parties to a grown ups-only evening, there is something for everyone. The clubhouse is now open to the community daily. Stop by and chat with a neighbor or sit hearthside with a friend. The pool table is available for use by our residents 15 and older. We have many changes happening in the clubhouse and many more changes in the future to create a warm and inviting space for all of our community. The tennis courts have re-opened and are available for use daily. We are also looking into adding a Stroller Strides group so if you are interested, please contact us in the Lifestyle office. As always, keep up to date on the happenings here in Grand Hampton on our facebook page “Grandhamptontampa”. Here’s hoping you receive lots of flowers and chocolate this Valentine’s Day! P R E S I D E N T ' S M E S S A G EDear Friends and Neighbors, Transition has happened! Congratulations, Grand Hampton homeowners! You have recently elected our first board of directors made up completely of other homeowners. The developer is no longer in control of our property or our monies. The new board will meet the first Monday of each month in our clubhouse at 6:30 pm to conduct our association’s business. All homeowners are encouraged to attend board meetings and contribute their ideas, opinions and suggestions at the appropriate time. My name is Paul V. Suppicich and I have been selected by our newly elected board to serve as President of the association for 2013. I welcome this opportunity to represent our community and advocate for its members. We did have our first board meeting of the year on January 7, 2013. Many Grand Hampton residents were in attendance. At that meeting, I charged the 2013 board of directors with the following: The board’s primary role is to protect Grand Hampton and all its residents through thoughtful decision making. It will do this while managing the day to day business of the community and ALL its residents. The board of directors performs its duties well by protecting, preserving and enhancing the value of our property investments. The board will achieve this through planning, planning and more planning...for our community’s future. We will be proactive regarding association finances and aggressively confront issues that threaten our community’s financial wellbeing. The ground rules I have established for the board this year are consistency, vigilance, enforcement and regular review of our controlling documents. The Grand Hampton Homeowners Association is over a thousand members strong and we have much combined experience, insight and talent among our members. Homeowners who wish to actively participate in association business contribute to the safety and success of the community as a whole. Grand Hampton needs homeowner volunteers to serve on committees, communicate with each other about issues affecting all of us and advise the board accordingly. For more information on how to get involved, please contact our on-site licensed community association manager, Rebecca Macone. Truly yours, Paul

COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DISTRICT

(CDD)

WHAT YOU SHOULD

KNOW A CDD is a governmental unit

created to serve the long-term specific

needs of its community. Created pursuant to Chapter 190 of the Florida Statutes, a CDD’s main powers are to plan, finance, construct, operate, and maintain community-wide infrastructure and services specifically to benefit its residents. A CDD is governed by its Board of Supervisors which is elected initially by the landowners, then begins transitioning to residents of the CDD. Like all municipal, county, state, and national elections the Office of the Supervisor of Elections oversees the vote, and CDD Supervisors are subject to state ethics and financial disclosure laws. CDD business is conducted in the “Sunshine”, which means all meetings and records are open to the public. Public hearings are held on CDD assessments, and CDD budgets are subject to annual independent audits. The cost to operate a CDD is borne by those who benefit from its services. Property owners in the CDD are subject to a non-ad valorem assessment, which appears on their annual property tax bill from the county tax collector and may consist of two parts: an annual assessment for operations and maintenance, and an annual capital assessment to repay bonds sold by the CDD to finance community infrastructure and facilities. The Grand Hampton CDD primary area of common responsibility is wetlands, water management and drainage and oversight of Conservation Areas. The CDD is professionally managed by Rizzetta & Company and inquiries should be directed to Greg Cox at (813) 933 -5571. Residents are cautioned to not feed or otherwise entice alligators; this illegal practice can encourage their dependence, create a danger to humans and pets, and threaten their survival. Conservation areas cannot be encroached upon to extend lawns or views! Please contact the CDD with any questions on protected conservation

areas.

Girl Scouts of West Central Florida (GSWCF) announced Monday, Jan. 7 marked the start of the 2013 Girl Scout Cookie Program throughout

its eight-county jurisdiction of Citrus, Hernando, Hillsborough, Marion, Pasco, Pinellas, Polk and Sumter counties. Through the Cookie Program, girls build five essential life skills: goal setting, money management, decision making, people skills and business ethics. Empower girls to become future leaders by supporting the Girl Scout Cookie program.

Whichever your favorite Girl Scout Cookie – Thin Mints,

Tagalongs, or Samoas – the wait is over! Through March 16th, thousands of Girl Scouts will take orders for your favorite Girl Scout Cookie varieties,

including Do-Si-Dos, Dulce de Leche, Samoas®, Tagalongs®, Thank You Berry Munch, Thin Mints, Trefoils and returning for a second year due to its popular 100th anniversary debut – the Savannah Smiles!

Girl Scouts in west central Florida will deliver thousands of cookies beginning Feb. 15th. New this year, Girl Scout cookie packaging has been completely redesigned to showcase more about the impact of the cookie program

As the nation celebrates National Mentoring Month, it is important to let all mentoring-minded people know how much they matter.

Across the nation, Big Brothers Big Sisters is reconnecting with alumni Bigs, Littles, donors and family, staff and board members. The reunion effort is an extension of Start Something®, a national initiative Big Brothers

Big Sisters unveiled two years ago in partnership with the Ad Council. The effort invites all adults – not just volunteers -- to support quality mentoring to change the odds for children facing adversity. The 2013 nationwide search

and reunite effort extends Start Something to hundreds of thousands of people who have an affinity with Big Brothers Big Sisters, but have not been asked to stay or become re-engaged with the organization. Our

hope is that by bringing our alumni together and showing them how much we appreciate them, we will open avenues for people who are already invested in our work to “Start Something [Again]” to help kids succeed in school and life.

Each year, Big Brothers Big Sisters serves nearly 2,000 youth in Hillsborough, Polk and Pasco County. Most of them are children of single, low-income or incarcerated parents or sons and daughters of military personnel.

Longstanding independent research and Big Sisters Youth Outcomes Survey™ results find children enrolled in Big Brothers Big Sisters improve in areas such as school, behavior and self-esteem. Today, as Big Brothers Big Sisters embarks on a nationwide search to reunite with former Bigs, Littles, donors and family, staff and board members, I encourage you to ask friends and family once involved to visit our websites and reconnect with us. And if you are the person with whom we have lost contact, we believe National Mentoring Month is a perfect time to Start Something [Again]. v

To celebrate the 500th year of the founding of Florida, the Tampa-Hillsborough County Library System is seeking artwork for display. It's been 500 years since Spanish conquistador Juan Ponce de Leon stumbled onto the eastern shores of Florida in search of the Fountain of Youth. To celebrate Viva Florida 500, Tampa-Hillsborough County Public Libraries is inviting Florida artists to apply to have their artwork displayed in a library community room for

ongoing exhibits throughout the year. Works with local flavor and those of general appeal are considered good candidates for the display.

• Submit materials by mail with digital images on a CD to: John F. Germany Public Library, Attn: Stacey Jurewicz, 900 N. Ashley Dr., Tampa FL 33602, or via email to: [email protected].• Note exact size of artwork in the submission.• Submit applications between Jan. 15 and March 31. Peter Stilton is a Tampa artist who creates sophisticated whimsical paintings in a variety of themes and media that are inspired in part by the “fete” paintings of Rococo France. A full-time artist for three decades with over 40 solo shows in the U.S. and France, including La Sorbonne, his work is in private and corporate collections in the U.S., Europe, and the Middle East. Honors include work in the state collection of France (Office of the Mayor of Paris at Hotel de Ville) and in the permanent collection of the Springfield, MA, Museum of Fine Arts. Stilton’s lyrical style has been described as linear expressionism with diverse subject matter, including symbolic geometric abstracts. His art draws the viewer into a world of visual surprises and sophisticated whimsy. “My work is a kaliedoscope of all the places, colors and

images I experience," Stilton states. "It is a congruence of the past and present moment with a tangent that points to the future. Figurative or rhythmically abstract, my paintings reveal a substantive mental world beyond the material prose of existence. Child-like trust opens the doors to new vistas and imaginative juxtapositions where images change dimension and properties in uncharted and delightful ways, such as the pure joy of color and line, or the Chippendale chairs, Rolls-Royces, pipe organs, and cellos all enjoying the beach.” For more information about the artist, visit his website stiltonstudio.com.

The North Tampa Arts League meets the fourth Wednesday of each month at Compton Park, 16101 Compton Drive, from 7 - 9 pm. v

Unless you've been living under a rock the last few years, you know that Food Trucks are the latest rage for foodies, hipsters, or anyone who wants to try unique and freshly prepared gourmet fare on the go. Most major U.S.

cities host food truck rallies, and the Tampa Bay area is no exception. These rallies often include live music as entertainment for the hungry hordes that descend in droves. One of the more popular events is called Flicks

The Food Truck Revolution Rolls into Tampa Neighborhoodsby Ann MacKinnon & Food Trucks, held on the

third Thursday of every month from 6 - 10 pm. This venue offers a varied selection of 10 - 15 gourmet food trucks as well as independent short films, predominantly created by Florida filmmakers.

The Flicks and Food Truck website offers this advice

for first timers: Some trucks take credit cards, but not all trucks do. Plan to expect waiting in line for your orders. While the food is worth the wait, it does not come fast because it’s not “fast food”. These are full blown restaurants on wheels and food is made to order. Plan to experience more than one food truck. Everyone serves something different so ordering small is key!

Consider it similar to tailgating: Most people stand and eat at Food Truck events. If you are one who likes to sit and eat, then stake out a spot on a curb or bring a chair! Be sure to bring cash for your purchases. Vendors appreciate small bills vs. 10’s & 20’s. Go to http://www.tampabaymarkets.com/flicks-and-food-trucks for more information about this event. Or go to www.tastingtampa.com for other events, such as the Mayor's Food Truck Fiesta each month. You can also follow Tampa Bay Food Truck Rally on facebook to get the latest details about other locations. To keep up with the street

food vendors that are roaming the Tampa Bay area each day, there's a new "app" for iphones or Android devices. Truckspotting.com outfits local food trucks with real-time GPS units and personally meets with the individual vendors to make sure accurate information and weekly calendars are provided to the hungry public. Finding your favorite organic bistro on wheels, mobile burger joint or favorite taco truck will no longer be a guessing game! v

Munchel Brothers by Ann MacKinnon Opening their first store in 2009, brothers Joe, Eddie and Chuck Munchel have expanded to four stores in just a few short years. They enjoy being in a developing area like Wesley Chapel and growing with the community. Their vision is to not only provide quality jewelry, but to also work with collectables, hence

the name, Jewelry and Coin Exchange. They offer free appraisals on jewelry, coins, old watches, collectable documents, flatware, and sports and movie

memorabilia. Their glass cases are filled with interesting historical items, in addition to sparkling diamonds and other fine jewelry. They may not buy every item they appraise, but they are happy to help their customers learn the value of their collectables.

Having been mentored in the jewelry business for 20 years by their family, each brother has earned additional accreditations in their field:Joe earned credits to become a GIA

certified Diamondologist and is a member of the National Association of Jewelry Appraisers. Eddie is a NAWWC certified

watchmaker and GIA certified Diamondologist. He was able to master the craft of watch repair because of his patience and good hands. Chuck started with jewelry repair and has earned credits as a GIA Accredited Jewelry Professional and Master Jeweler. Munchel Brothers Jewelry and Coin Exchange offers a wide range of services. They can design new pieces, or old jewelry can be re-designed and updated. They offer onsite repair of jewelry and watches. They buy gold and other valuables, and offer consignment on eBay for items

of significant value. It is their mission to provide a one-stop shopping venue and to go above and beyond to help their customers! With Valentine's Day just around the corner, now is the perfect time to stop in and browse their selection of diamonds and fine gemstone jewelry for your sweetheart. They offer a range of items for every budget. They are located in the Shoppes at New Tampa Plaza near Bealls (1738 Bruce B. Downs Blvd. in Wesley Chapel) Call 813-994-1572 or visit www.munchelbrothers.com for more information. v
