GRAND EXPEDITIONS OF A LIFETIMERare is the day when two Silversea Expedition ships share South America’s waters. Rarer still, the opportunity to link two Silversea Expedition voyages with an adventure on terra firma, with all three segments choreographed by Silversea. We’re offering five three-part expeditions, each one beginning in the Galápagos Islands, connecting to a land adventure, then exploring the coast of Central America, South America, or Antarctica. All you have to do is pick your favourite trio.

Silversea Expeditions TeamTo truly experience your destination be it in the wild, in a city, or along the fringes of civilisation we’ve assembled a team of experts from all relevant fields. You’ll have the opportunity to learn from eminent naturalists, geologists, biologists, historians, and ornithologists, all of whom have the education, research experience and personal accomplishments to make them ideal companions for your adventure. You can attend daily briefings and lectures presented by professionals hand-picked for their expertise in specific areas depending upon your destination.

Book the paired Silversea Expeditions along with the connecting adventure (all of it orchestrated by Silversea) and you’ll save 20% off the cruise fare. There’s no better way to explore the wilds of South America, Galápagos, and Antarctica. It’s like a wine pairing, but even more delicious.

Onboard LifeSilver Galapagos and Silver Explorer are the perfect platforms for viewing untamed landscapes. Notable Silversea distinctions such as elegant, all-suite accommodations with butler service, complimentary spirits and fine wines, and truly world-class cuisine are luxuries rarely seen in expedition cruising. The onboard ambience is warm and friendly, and with just 100 to 132 guests, there’s considerable opportunity to meet and mingle with your expedition team and fellow travellers. After all, one of the greatest joys of an expedition voyage is the company you meet and keep.

Every Silver Galapagos voyage includes a two-night pre-cruise hotel stay at the Quito JW Marriott including breakfast, an evening tour of Quito’s historic city highlights, hotel to airport transfer,

and return economy flights between Ecuador and the Galapagos islands.

Dr. Patricia Silva OrnithologistPatricia started her field studies working with lizards in northern Argentina. Her Ph.D. degree focused on the reproductive and foraging ecology of kelp gulls in Antarctic and Sub-Antarctic environments. A naturalist expert and artist, Patricia has served in various capacities onboard expedition vessels for more than 20 years around the globe – from Africa, to the Mediterranean, the South Pacific and South America. She currently works alongside her husband on conservation projects in the Southern Ocean.

Daniel Arteaga Naturalist GuideDaniel´s involvement and endearment with Galapagos National Park started at a young age. Throughout his life he has formed a deep connection with the archipelago as a volunteer of the national park, where he participated in community programs in his home port. While working toward a master’s degree in neurobiology, he enjoys sharing his experiences in the Galapagos with visitors as a naturalist guide. Daniel truly believes that through education we can achieve positive change.

Dries William Degel Naturalist Guide Dries was born in Guayaquil and raised in the Galapagos. He spent his last three years of high school in Guayaquil, at an art institute. After graduating, he became involved in the different projects of conservation and ecotourism, as well as campaigns for the eradication of introduced species of plants and animals. After learning various languages, dries became a naturalist guide, and since then has worked on several boats on the islands.

Luke Kenny Marine BiologistA native Irishman, Luke gained a deep-rooted appreciation of the environment at a young age. He’s worked as a Fisheries Observer off Ireland’s southern coast and in the Falkland Islands. He also spent two years on South Georgia as a Fisheries Biologist. Luke is always looking for new adventures off the beaten track — and his next goal is to sail in the high latitudes, while researching oceanography and glaciology.

Juan Carlos Restrepo Expedition LeaderJuan Carlos Restrepo has a passion for travel and in 2002 he left his homeland and traveled nonstop for four and a half years around the world. With a Masters degree in Geology from the Universidad de Caldas in Colombia, Juan splits his time between Antarctica and the high Arctic, both as expedition leader and Geologic lecturer. When not on board he normally returns to sunny Colombia and enjoys paragliding and motorbike touring around the country.

Ivonne Torres Naturalist GuideBorn in Guayaquil, Ivonne Torres became an exchange student in the United States during her teenage years — an experience which led her to study tourism. In 1989 she became a naturalist guide in the Galápagos, and she later worked at both the Charles Darwin Foundation and the Municipal Government of Santa Cruz Island. Married to a local fisherman, Ivonne is the proud mother of two daughters, both of whom help her keep the Galápagos pristine.
