NOUN

Definition: A person, place, thing or idea

Types: common, proper, concrete, abstract, collective

Examples: cat (common), Mr. Jones (proper), apple (concrete), love (abstract), audience (collective)

Definition: A word that is used in place of one or more nouns or pronouns

Types: personal, reflexive, intensive, demonstrative, interrogative, indefinite, relative

Examples: I, you, he, her (personal), myself, yourself (reflexive & intensive), this, that (demonstrative), what, which (interrogative), all, any (indefinite), who, which (relative)

ADJECTIVE

Definition: A word that is used to modify/specify a noun or pronoun

Types: articles, demonstrative, common, proper

Examples: a, an, the (articles), this, these (demonstrative), red, busy (common), Hawaiian, Thanksgiving (proper)

VERB

Definition: A word that expresses either physical or mental activity

Types: action, linking, helping, main, transitive, intransitive

Examples: run, speak (action), he is happy (linking), they were silent (helping), he did it (main), she waved at him (transitive), she waved (intransitive)

ADVERB

Definition: A word that modifies a verb, adjective or another adverb

Explains: where, when, how, how often, how long, how much
