Simple Sentence- A simple sentence (also called an independent clause) contains a subject and a verb, and it expresses a complete thought.

Ex: Students at Union like to sleep late during their vacation. Ex. My friends and I want to go to Florida this summer.

Notes

Compound Sentence- A compound sentence contains two or more independent clauses joined by a coordinating conjunction (BOYSFAN) or a semicolon.

Ex:   I tried to write a poem, and my sister tried to write a song. Ex. My grandpa used to play basketball; he is too weak now to shoot, and he must be careful.

Label each as a simple (S) or compound (C) sentence.
