Holidays…..Yeah!!!!!! A big thank-you is extended to our Teaching Staff, Administration Staff, Integration Aides, LRC and Computer
Technicians, and Uniform Shop co-ordinator whose work throughout the year is greatly appreciated. They all
deserve a well-earned break and an opportunity to re-charge their batteries in readiness for 2014. Working in
schools can often be extremely difficult and demanding and requires a commitment far beyond the four walls of
the classroom. We love our work and it is a privilege to work with young people and watch them develop and
grow.
A special mention to the many parent helpers who have devoted numerous hours and energy providing input in to
the various facets of school life. We have parents involved in our School Council lead by Craig Geddes, classroom
helpers, excursions and camps, Graduation, working bees, fundraising activities, student banking, uniform shop
etc. Without this assistance our school would not enjoy the great reputation it holds both within and beyond the
community. We look forward to strengthening the partnership with our parent community during next year and
beyond. A special mention to Mary, our Canteen Manager, who has supported our school in many ways
throughout the year.
The students at Greenvale Primary School deserve recognition for the way in which they manage themselves
during the year and uphold our school values. Holidays are a time for the students to relax, hang out with their
friends and family over the summer break. We wish our Grade 6 students all the very best as they move on to
some exciting opportunities and challenges at secondary school. Greenvale Primary School has provided them
with a great foundation on which to build in order to pursue their dreams and goals. Most importantly they
should aim to become model citizens as encompassed in our school values of Respect, Honesty, Responsibility,
Resilience and Learning.
End of Year Christmas Concert We had a fantastic turn up of parents and students at our annual Christmas Concert. Congratulations are
extended to Mrs Heather Foletta our Performing Arts Teacher who organised the community event. The sausage
sizzle was also a great hit and I would like to extend a big thank you to the staff and parents who helped out
serving sausages and to Mr Andrew Bouzikas for his organisation of the BBQ.
Sponsors Support This year we had many sponsors support our school in many of our fundraising events. You will find most of them
on the back of our school newsletter. Local businesses Harrison Parker Real Estate and Coles are acknowledged
for their own going support throughout the year.
Acting Assistant Principal’s Report
Rosemary Agnew
I would like to take this opportunity to thank the school community for their support during my time as acting
assistant principal this year. I have thoroughly enjoyed the role and cannot believe how much I have grown
professionally and learnt in this short period of time. Whilst in the office I have been very fortunate to work with
an amazing group of dedicated administrative staff who work extremely hard on a daily basis. The teachers and
support staff have been especially incredible this term in Glenn’s absence. Everyone has stepped up to support
Jane and myself in our acting roles and they have consistently gone beyond what is expected of them in their
everyday work. We are so fortunate to have such caring and professional staff who are committed to making
Greenvale Primary a great place to learn and work.
During this time, I have also been extremely privileged to work alongside and be mentored by Jane Greig-
Hancock. It has been an absolute pleasure to watch and learn from her as she confidently interacts with all
members of the school community and builds strong relationships with all of our students, especially those who
visit the office on a regular basis. Jane has been an inspirational leader who has continually motivated and
challenged staff to improve their teaching capacity and knowledge and has been committed to improving student
welfare and learning across the school. Jane’s curriculum knowledge and passion to create a vibrant and engaging
learning environment is evident in all that she does and I am very grateful to her for the encouragement and
trust she has shown in me to get the job done this term. On behalf of the Greenvale Primary School community, I
wish to thank her for her extraordinary effort and achievements in her role as Acting Principal this year.
In saying all this, I must admit that I have missed teaching my students in 2RA incredibly. They have been
extremely resilient in adapting to various teachers throughout the year and I wish to thank them and their
families for their support.
Finally, I would sincerely like to wish the Greenvale Primary School community a very safe and happy Christmas
and holiday period. I hope you get to enjoy some great food, weather and relaxing times together with your family
and friends.
