Dear Parent or Guardian:

Our Eighth Grade Promotion Ceremony is right around the corner. Gowns, diplomas and other promotion materials have already been ordered. Below you will find the list of fees that need to be collected for various items related to the Promotion Ceremony. Fees can be mailed to the office or you can come into the office and pay them directly.

Individual graduation portraits will be available through HR Imaging. Pictures will be taken on Tuesday, March 1, 2011. An 11 x 14 group photo is also available for purchase. This picture will be taken closer to promotion time and will be mailed directly to your home from HR Imaging.

In addition, as stated in your handbook for Matthews Middle School, any delinquent fees will impact eligibility to participate in end-of-year eighth grade activities. Fees are defined as registration fees, sport fees, band fees, lost books and fundraiser money owed to the district or school. If money is owed, a Statement of Account letter that lists these fees has been mailed to your home.

As a reminder, the Matthews Middle School Promotion Ceremony will be held at Quentin Road Bible Church in Lake Zurich, Illinois. A specific date of the ceremony will be determined in mid-April. It will be a dual ceremony with Wauconda Middle School. If promotion fees are paid before April 15, 2011 promotion tickets will be sent home on Tuesday, April 19, 2011 along with your student’s 4th quarter progress report. If fees are not paid, you will need to come into the office to pay the fees and pick up your tickets. Any promotion items related to the fees will not be distributed until fees are paid in full. Each student will be allocated six (6) tickets for the promotion ceremony. If extra tickets are needed, please send a written request to the Matthews Middle School office.

This year’s promotion dance will be on Saturday, May 14, 2011 at 6:00 p.m. We will once again be combining our dance with Wauconda Middle School, and it will be held at Wauconda High School. This will be a great way to celebrate and bring the eighth grade students together before moving on to high school.
