What is Consciousness-Based education?Consciousness-Based education was developed by the University’s founder, Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, so that students can develop their total creative potential at the same time they are gaining an outstanding traditional education. At the heart of an MUM education is self-knowledge. Th rough the Transcendental Meditation technique — a simple, natural, eff ortless, easily-learned procedure practiced 20 minutes twice — students experience that their innermost nature is an unbounded fi eld of pure consciousness, pure intelligence, pure bliss. Th is inner fi eld of pure consciousness is the source of all knowledge — the unifi ed fi eld of all the laws of nature that sustains the universe itself.By directly experiencing your innermost nature, your can easily connect each discipline to your own lives and see the underlying unity of all knowledge. What are the benefi ts for students? As numerous scientifi c research studies have demonstrated, regular practice of the Transcenden-tal Meditation technique leads to a wide constellation of benefi ts on all levels of life — mind, body, personality, personal relationships, and social well-being. Benefi ts important for education include:• increasedintegrationofbrainfunctioning• increasedintelligence• increasedcreativity• improvedlearningability• improvedmemory• improvedgradepointaverage• reducedstress• balancedpersonalitygrowth• improvedinterpersonalrelationshipsTh e advanced Transcendental Meditation-Sidhi program, including Yogic Flying, greatly accel-erates the benefi ts of the Transcendental Meditation technique by itself. What are the benefi ts for society? For society as a whole, many studies further show that when small groups of people — just the square root of 1% of the population — practice the Transcendental Meditation and TM-Sidhi programs together in one place, they uplift the quality of life for the whole society.enlightenment and invincibilityTh us our mission at Maharishi University of Management is twofold: To develop the full creative potential of every student, and to create an ideal society — invincibility for every nation and peace for our world family.

“The potential of every human brain is unbounded, infi nite. everyone is equipped with the physical machinery in the brain physiology to experience that level of intelligence which is the

ocean of all knowledge, the ocean of all energy, intelligence, and bliss.“Fragmented, intellect-predominant education in uni versities today

does not utilize the total creative potential of the brain. Utilizing only a small part of the brain, such education over time disables other parts of the brain from functioning.

“Th rough Consciousness-Based education,SM Maharishi Uni versity of Management will take away the inadequacies of education by off ering Total Knowledge to unfold the total brain potential of everyone so that human beings may use the full creative potential with which they are really born to live perfection in life.” — Maharishi

INNER AND OUTER DEVELOPMENT

Graduate study takes on a new dimension at Maharishi Univer-

sity of Management. Our Consciousness-Based approach gives

students an outstanding traditional education on the founda-

tion of developing their total creative potential from within. All our students, faculty, and staff practice the Transcendental Meditation technique, a simple,

natural, effortless procedure practiced 20 minutes twice each day. This technique reduces stress, in-tegrates brain functioning, expands creativity and intelligence, enhances learning ability, improves health, and enriches all aspects of life from inside out.

It also enables students to experience who they really are. When you dive within through the technique of Transcendental Meditation, you experience that your innermost nature is an un-bounded field of pure consciousness, pure bliss. Your mind opens to the inner source of all knowl-edge — the field of pure intelligence that sustains the universe itself. You feel increasingly at home with all knowledge, your thoughts and actions come into increasing harmony with natural law, and you gain the ability to fulfill your desires with greater ease.

Business – MBA for Accounting Professionals

This program, modeled after the University’s highly success-

ful Computer Professionals program, attracts students from

around the world and combines study in the MBA program

with practical training at U.S. companies.Accounting MBA students specialize in management accounting, a universal set of skills and

knowledge applicable to all countries. Th e program is designed to prepare students to sit for the CMA (Certifi ed Management Accountant) exam, an internationally-recognized professional cer-tifi cation administered by the Institute for Management Accountants (IMA). Students may also study for the CPA (Certifi ed Public Accountant) exam.

Th e CMA exam focuses on knowledge and skills required for business planning, internal controls, internal reporting and decision-making. CMAs are highly respected and internationally-recognized professionals. CMAs typically begin their careers as cost accountants or business analysts. With more experience, they can become accounting managers, controllers, or chief fi nancial offi cers.

As the students complete the self-study review courses, they arrange to sit for each of the four parts of the CMA exam or CPA exam. Passing the CMA exam or CPA exams is not an academic requirement of the MBA program, but students may be awarded academic credits for passing at least one part of either examination.

“Manage by managing your Self”

“Yogastah kuru karmani. Th at means, established in a unifi ed state of intelligence you perform action. Th is is management. Skill of

management is that you manage by managing your Self in your own inner silence, in your own unifi ed fi eld. You stabilize your Self in your own inner Self; and then your thought will be supported by infi nite organizing power of total natural law. Th at will give you the status of a real Vedic manage-ment expert. Management means you should know how to do least to ac-complish maximum. Do less and accomplish more.” — Maharishi

Computer Science – MS for Computer Professionals Outstanding training and a national reputation

Our Computer Professionals program is one of the largest and

most successful programs in the U.S., coupling outstanding

practical training with development of students’ consciousness. In the program’s unique structure, students study full-time on campus for about seven months,

then do two years of practical training at leading fi rms anywhere in the U.S., during which they complete their education via distance education.

Over 800 U.S. companies have hired our students, including many of the 50 largest U.S. companies — Google, IBM, Microsoft, Sun, Oracle, General electric, Cisco, AT&T, and Bank of America.

Students become thoroughly grounded in programming languages, computer architecture and systems, and software development tools, methods, and systems. Th ey also gain experience in such applied areas as computer graphics, compilers, databases, and networking.

Th e curriculum includes the unifying theory of programming languages and a variety of mod-ern languages and approaches to programming, for example, Java and C#.net (for enterprise and large-scale systems), Python and Perl (for dynamic programming and scripting), and ML (for functional programming). Other specialized languages are taught as needed — parallel program-ming and web programming, for example.

Students also explore principles that have given rise to the most recent advances in high-perfor-mance and supercomputing systems, including networked, parallel, distributed, and highly con-current approaches, each using many computers in combination to solve a large computational task but diff ering in scope and approach.

“Th e hardware of that cosmic computer”

“human brain physiology is the hardware of that cosmic computer which can create anything through proper programming. human

awareness has the ability to identify completely with the total potential of natural law, the unifi ed fi eld, which is Transcendental Consciousness, the self-referral state of consciousness. Th e Transcendental Meditation and TM-Sidhi program trains human brain physiology and human awareness to function completely in accord with the total potential of natural law and spontaneously exhibit natural law in daily life. Th ereby all aspects of life come to be always in the direction of evolution.” — Maharishi

The strategies for teaching and learning are almost limitless today. We see new kinds of schools — charter schools, magnet schools, career academies, and proprietary schools, to name a few. And we see new and creative approaches to education — brain-based education, data-informed education, technology-rich education, service learning, distance learning, learning communities, and more. Stu-dents in this MA program gain a working knowledge of these and other approaches in the light of Consciousness-Based education and a clear and profound grasp of educational goals and outcomes.

Beyond specific knowledge and skills of teaching, our students develop the personal qualities they need to effectively lead their students — self-assurance, creativity and resourcefulness, energy and warmheartedness. They become experts in developing the full potential of the next generation.

“It is easy to raise education to perfection, and change the old concept of university education from ‘all knowledge in one campus’ to ‘all knowledge in one brain’ — ‘fruit of all knowledge’ to everyone.” — Maharishi

Maharishi Vedic ScienceComplete knowledge of natural law —

the intelligence that administers the universe

In this program, students gain profound personal growth as well as

the foundation for success in anything they might undertake after-

ward. Students in the Maharishi Vedic Science master’s program:• Culture higher states of consciousness, the foundation for

professional success and personal fulfi llment as well as for creating invincibility and world peace.

• understand the dynamics of consciousness, from the per-spective of eeG research, quantum theories of physics, and the Vedic literature. Students understand how pure con-sciousness is the fundamental fi eld of life, the unifi ed fi eld of all the laws of nature that govern the universe.

• learn practical knowledge for promoting good health and good fortune, including Maharishi Self-Pulse diagnosis to improve health, prevent disease, and culture enlightenment.

• learn to read Sanskrit, the language of nature, which cre-ates a nourishing eff ect on the entire physiology and culti-vates the same kind of coherent brain functioning as prac-ticing the Transcendental Meditation technique — thereby developing higher states of consciousness.

Let us be together,Let us eat together,Let us be vital together,Let us be radiating truth, radiating the light of life,Never shall we denounce

anyone, never entertain negativity.

— Upanishads

“Engage the total potential of natural law”

“A Vedic scientist is a researcher in the fi eld of consciousness. Th rough his research he enjoys increasingly free access to the total potential

of natural law in his own self-referral consciousness. he enjoys the increas-ing ability to spontaneously engage the total potential of natural law for the fulfi llment of his desires. Full potential of natural law, or unifi ed fi eld of natural law, is fully available to him in his own self-referral consciousness — Transcendental Consciousness.” — Maharishi

PhD in Management

The PhD in Management prepares students for careers as pro-

fessors, consultants, or researchers. Students learn how to

transform the performance of individuals and organizations. Developing and utilizing human potential is widely recognized as the cornerstone of corporate

transformation and economic development. Maharishi University of Management is the world’s leading university specializing in developing human consciousness and the ideal place to learn how to cultivate full human potential and to enhance any organization’s creativity, productivity, and profi t.

Alongside gaining knowledge and skills, students practice technologies to develop their total brain physiology. Th e PhD in Management program is taught in the light of Maharishi Vedic Management,SM the knowledge of nature’s total intelligence. Natural law automatically man-ages the infi nitely complex and evolving universe without strain and without mistakes. Th rough studying the theoretical and practical aspects of Maharishi Vedic Management, including the Transcendental Meditation program, students grow in better health, clearer thinking, and greater creativity, moral development, and wisdom.

Th is program prepares students to conduct original and signifi cant research through courses in research methods and statistics. Students are encouraged to choose a research topic early in their studies so that their research papers throughout the program can focus on this theme. Students also learn the principles and practices for successful college teaching and adult education.

“Th e supreme consultant is total natural law”

“There is a saying in the rig Veda. . . . Yatinam Brahma bhavati sarathih — the creator becomes the charioteer of your desires, of your needs,

of your wants, of your activity. So attending to your consciousness, attending to your Self, is like engaging a super consultant. If you have a good consul-tant, you will always win in the market. Th e supreme consultant is total natu-ral law — the ability to do anything, the ability to know anything, to do any-thing. Student life is to gain this ability. If you can gain the ability to think and achieve, you can really achieve all you want to achieve.” — Maharishi

PhD in Physiology

In this research program, open to those with an MD or graduate degree in physiology, students conduct research on the physiological eff ects of the Transcendental Meditation program, or on Maharishi AyurvedaTM

herbal products, Maharishi Vedic Vibration Technology,SM or other aspects of Maharishi’s programs for development of consciousness and health.

Students may also research the cardiovascular system (the primary focus of the University’s Institute of Natural Medicine and Prevention) or other aspects of physiology in which they have expertise.

Th e PhD in Physiology is tailored for those who have already done extensive work at the gradu-ate level and are ready to do research. If students have suffi cient background, the coursework may be waived so that they can begin with the dissertation proposal phase. Advanced standing is deter-mined by the department’s graduate faculty, the program director, and dean of the graduate school.

Following dissertation proposal approval, students conduct their research under the guidance of the faculty. Length of time to complete the dissertation will depend on the scope of the research project, but this typically requires at least two years of full-time research and writing.

“Enliven the total intelligence of natural law within the physiology”

“The eff ectiveness of Maharishi’s Vedic Approach to health lies in the ability of the program to enliven the total intelligence of

natural law within the physiology and thereby integrate the functioning of all aspects of body and mind. As a result, thought, behavior, tastes, and tendencies become more integrated and balanced and spontaneously move in harmony with natural law, which is the basis of good health.”
