Focus Wayne Thiebaud’s work used lots of repetition and pattern. Repetition refers to one object or shape repeated; pattern is a combination of elements or shapes being repeated. See examples below:

Explore This week we are going to use repetition and pattern to create a Wayne Thiebaud inspired drawing. We will be using Thiebaud’s ‘Cupcakes’ painting as inspiration. Watch demonstration video. You will need:

White paper

Grey lead pencil

Black texta

Coloured pencils, crayons, textas or water colour paints

Scissors

Worry Watch this video Look in a mirror, make your happiest face, then sign the Auslan for happy. Make your saddest face, then sign the Auslan for sad. Go through all the emotions you can remember.

Focus Watch and follow along to Body Percussion in rhythm. Practise until you can join in the pattern with the video.

Now follow along to Dum Dum Dah Dah Here are some children trying to do the activity by thinking of their own moves. Eastwood

Main Activity Using the ‘Dum Dum Dah Dah’ rhythm, come up with your own moves for it! Remember that your moves should make a sound – we want music!! If you have someone to work with, take it in turns to make up the moves and copy each other’s. If you don’t have anyone to work with, make up your own moves and copy them twice each.

ASSESSMENT TASK Film yourself doing your own pattern and submit it on Microsoft Teams > Specialist > Performing Arts> Week 6. Save it as your name to show Mrs

Hofmann. Want More? Watch Bim Bum

Have a go at copying it. on’t worry if it is hard. Just have fun! Now try doing it as fast as you can (Presto) and as slowly as you can (Largo).

What would you rather? Roblox fitness version 3! (Tabata Workout) Click me! Choose an option and move to the side of the room you have chosen and complete the activity! Activity is better on a TV.

Main Activity: Paper Plate Balloon Tennis Watch Mr Henshaw’s video to learn how to play: Paper Plate Balloon Tennis. OR Read these instructions! Step 1: Have you got a small tennis racquet? No? No worries – Let’s make one! Find a paper plate or something similar in your house. This will be your racquet head. You will also need a medium length stick (wooden spoon or spatula works well!) or something similar. This is going to be your handle. Step 2: Once you have found your materials, stick them together to resemble a racquet. See below:

Step 3: Blow up a balloon as seen in the picture above. Step 4: Find something that can be used as a net (over the couch works great or washing baskets with a sheet in the middle etc). Step 5: Create some boundaries (somewhere that the balloon/ball must stay within).

Page 3: GRADE 1: 17th 21st August - Bellbridge Primary School · 2020. 8. 16. · Art extra: Enjoy this video on pattern Want to do an extra P.E challenge and ... lollipops and hot dogs.

2. Fill in your cupcake with lines (dots,

straight, zig zag, dashes, curved) and shapes (heart, flowers, circles) to create patterns. Add details.

3. Outline in black texta. 4. Colour in using colour pencils,

zooms or water colour paints. 5. Cut out and arrange on a colour

piece of paper or newspaper back drop.

See examples below:

Printable resource.

Too easy? Extend yourself, look up more emotions on Signbank (The Auslan dictionary). Printable worksheet.

Step 6: Find someone in your house to compete with and complete various challenges below. TIME TO PLAY Challenge 1: Work together! How many times can you hit it over the net to each other before it touches the ground, or it goes out of bounds? Extension: Use your opposite hand! Challenge 2: Compete with each other – see who can win the point. Don’t let the balloon touch the ground on your side! Remember keep it inside the boundaries! Challenge 3: Use 2 balloons. Can you keep them both off the ground? QUESTION: What types of shots are you doing when playing tennis? ANSWER: Forehand and Backhand! How do we start a game? With a SERVE!

Optional Film yourself playing and submit it

on Microsoft Teams > Specialist > P.E > Week 6. Save it as your name to
