Grace MONTHLY NEWSLETTER OF GRACE BAPTIST CHURCH | JULY 2015 God’s Mission of Rescue & Restoration this Summer!!! Pastor’s Notes Pastor Mark Elkins This time last year a team from Grace was serving on a mission trip to orphanages in and around San Pedro Sula, Honduras. It was a tremendous opportunity to join Jesus on His mission to rescue and restore His lost sheep around the world. So many of you were involved, in so many ways: the planning and praying…the giving and going...and the involving and inviting. For a church of our size, it was truly a sacrificial and God-honoring summer of worship!!! And although we are not traveling around the world this summer, we still have so many opportunities to be on mission with Jesus Christ our Lord. In just a couple of days, our single largest mission opportunity will kick-off: Vacation Bible School & Community Family Fun Day. Our VBS continues to grow in the number of children and volunteers, as well as in our ability to glorify God by sharing His Gospel. Praise God, that through you, He has once again provided the necessary funds and volunteers for another incredible year! And now, your mission is to invite everyone you know to come and here the Good News and enjoy His blessings. On August 1 st , we will be going on our summer Regional Mission Trip to serve alongside the Straight Street Ministry in Roanoke, VA (http://straightstreet.org/). Since 1994, they have been reaching out to the young people of their community with the love and life-saving Gospel of Jesus Christ. We will be helping them to stage a Street Festival, similar to our own VBS/Community Family Fun Day with food, fun, face-painting, and Gospel Conversations. It is so exciting to see Grace reaching out beyond our walls and our community to see the kingdom of God grow! Already this summer we’ve had two Community Outreaches: the Strawberry and Covered Bridge Festivals, and there are still two more to come: the Peach Festival on August 21 st and the Apple Dumpling Festival on October 17 th . These are excellent mission opportunities for GBC to reach out to our community with the simple messages that we love you unconditionally, we don’t want your money, and that God’s Grace is FREE! These are all wonderful opportunities that may require only an hour, an afternoon or a day for GBC to be on mission with Jesus Christ our Lord this summer! But, there is one important fact that we can’t forget. GBC is not defined by its building, its leaders, its teams or its mission opportunitiesit is defined by its people. That means, for you and the church to fully receive God’s blessings and rewards, you must be engaged in the mission with Christ… in the planning and praying…the giving and going…and the involving and inviting. So, this summer, join God’s mission of rescuing & restoring His lost sheep through the family of God we know as Grace Baptist Church (and don’t forget the sunscreen). MONTHLY NEWSLETTER OF GRACE BAPTIST CHURCH | JULY 2015

God’s Mission of Rescue & Restoration this Summer!!!

    Pastor’s Notes Pastor Mark Elkins

This time last year a team from Grace

was serving on a mission trip to orphanages

in and around San Pedro Sula, Honduras. It

was a tremendous opportunity to join Jesus

on His mission to rescue and restore His lost

sheep around the world. So many of you

were involved, in so many ways: the

    planning and praying…the giving and

going...and the involving and inviting. For a

church of our size, it was truly a sacrificial

and God-honoring summer of worship!!! And

although we are not traveling around the

world this summer, we still have so many

opportunities to be on mission with Jesus

    Christ our Lord.

In just a couple of days, our single largest

    mission opportunity will kick-off: Vacation

Bible School & Community Family Fun

Day. Our VBS continues to grow in the

number of children and volunteers, as well as

in our ability to glorify God by sharing His

Gospel. Praise God, that through you, He

has once again provided the necessary

funds and volunteers for another incredible

year! And now, your mission is to invite

everyone you know to come and here the

Good News and enjoy His blessings.

On August 1st, we will be going on our

summer Regional Mission Trip to serve

alongside the Straight Street Ministry in

    Roanoke, VA (http://straightstreet.org/).

Since 1994, they have been reaching out to

the young people of their community with the

love and life-saving Gospel of Jesus Christ.

We will be helping them to stage a Street

Festival, similar to our own VBS/Community

Family Fun Day with food, fun, face-painting,

and Gospel Conversations. It is so exciting

to see Grace reaching out beyond our walls

and our community to see the kingdom of

    God grow!

Already this summer we’ve had two

    Community Outreaches: the Strawberry and

Covered Bridge Festivals, and there are still

two more to come: the Peach Festival on

    August 21st

    and the Apple Dumpling

    Festival on October 17th

    . These are

excellent mission opportunities for GBC to

reach out to our community with the simple

messages that we love you unconditionally,

we don’t want your money, and that God’s

    Grace is FREE!

These are all wonderful opportunities that

may require only an hour, an afternoon or a

day for GBC to be on mission with Jesus

Christ our Lord this summer! But, there is

one important fact that we can’t forget. GBC

is not defined by its building, its leaders, its

teams or its mission opportunities…it is

defined by its people. That means, for you

and the church to fully receive God’s

blessings and rewards, you must be

engaged in the mission with Christ… in the

    planning and praying…the giving and

going…and the involving and inviting. So,

this summer, join God’s mission of rescuing

& restoring His lost sheep through the family

of God we know as Grace Baptist Church

    (and don’t forget the sunscreen).
