APPLYING & ENROLLING AT TASTAFE

STUDENTS WHO EXPERIENCE DISABILITY

TasTAFE is committed to providing opportunities for students who experience disability to maximise their learning experience.

Students who believe their studies may be affected by their impairment should contact the TasTAFE Disability Liaison Officer in their region. Reasonable adjustments can be made that provide you with the same opportunities in training as a person without disability.

Disability Liaison Officers will work collaboratively with you to identify your support requirements.

ABORIGINAL AND TORRES STRAIT ISLANDER STUDENTS

TasTAFE’s Aboriginal Training Programs (ATP) team provides a range of services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students. If you’d like some help with the application process, the ATP team can help.

To make an appointment to discuss any of the above support options, please phone us on 1300 655 307 and ask to speak with a Student Counsellor.

INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

If you intend to apply as an International Student with a student visa, there is a separate application process you will need to undertake, which can be found by visiting https://study.tas.gov.au/application-process/

BEFORE YOU APPLYBefore you apply, you should read the pre-enrolment information in our 2018 Student Information Guide which is available in hard copy or online at www.tastafe.tas.edu.au/future/get-real/.

This guide will provide you with background information on the enrolment process such as dates, fees, policies and your responsibilities as a TasTAFE student.

You might find that you are eligible for partial credit, recognition of prior learning or a scholarship. You can also find out if your TasTAFE qualification can help you gain entry into university.

COURSE-BASED FEESThe good news is that many of TasTAFE’s courses are subsidised by the government and we have a range of payment options, concessions, and credit transfer options.

The cost of certificate level qualifications will depend upon factors including your eligibility for a range of government subsidies or concessions.

If studying at a Diploma or Advanced Diploma level you may be eligible to apply for the Commonwealth Government’s VET Student Loans scheme which provides you with the option of deferring your fees until you secure a job. This loan scheme covers all, or part, of your tuition fees and you only need to begin repaying when your income reaches around $50,000 annually.

Our short courses are not generally subsidised and will require you to pay your fees in full, prior to commencing your course.

If you are enrolling in a preparation program you will not be required to pay any fees.

TasTAFE course fees will cover the basic materials required for the qualification you choose; however, there may be some additional levies (e.g. text books, protective clothing, etc.) specific to your course selection.See our website for more details on course fees: www.tastafe.tas.edu.au/future/fees-and-payments

PAYMENT OPTIONSCourse fees can be paid in full at the time of enrolment.

Alternatively – provided you are not undertaking a Diploma or Advanced Diploma – you can choose to commit to a payment instalment plan after paying an initial deposit. You can use credit card, cash, cheque or EFTPOS to make your payment.

Students in receipt of a Centrelink payment have the option of paying for their course in fortnightly instalments using the Centrepay Direct Debit option where deductions are made directly from your benefit.

Most short courses must have all fees and charges paid up front at the time of enrolment.

For qualifications at Diploma level and above, you have the option of using the VET Student Loan deferred-payment model.

For further information, please phone the TasTAFE Information Service Centre on 1300 655 307.
