Sketchnote:
For each of the following types of Government, do a Sketchnote (a combination of doodles, drawings and notes):
1. Dictatorship2. Oligarchy3. Democracy
![Page 15: Government and Democracy Day #1. Survivor Island: A class trip goes horribly wrong. In your groups, decide how to survive. Answer all of the questions.](https://reader035.fdocuments.us/reader035/viewer/2022062523/5a4d1acb7f8b9ab05996f9ab/html5/thumbnails/15.jpg)
Dictatorship• A dictatorship = one person is the leader • The dictator often comes to power through a military
takeover. • Power is then maintained without the permission of the
people through a one-party state where political opposition is forbidden.
• Citizens have few rights and freedoms.
![Page 16: Government and Democracy Day #1. Survivor Island: A class trip goes horribly wrong. In your groups, decide how to survive. Answer all of the questions.](https://reader035.fdocuments.us/reader035/viewer/2022062523/5a4d1acb7f8b9ab05996f9ab/html5/thumbnails/16.jpg)
Oligarchy• An oligarchy = a few people have power. • Political power is shared by a small group of people, usually
the rich. • Citizens have some rights and freedoms.• An oligarchy can also be a dictatorship.
![Page 17: Government and Democracy Day #1. Survivor Island: A class trip goes horribly wrong. In your groups, decide how to survive. Answer all of the questions.](https://reader035.fdocuments.us/reader035/viewer/2022062523/5a4d1acb7f8b9ab05996f9ab/html5/thumbnails/17.jpg)
Democracy• A democracy = all citizens have a say in determining the
government and have a voice through their elected representatives.
• There are free and fair elections, and citizens can run for political office.
• The rights and freedoms of citizens are protected (e.g., the right to vote, freedom of speech and expression).
